Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

We had every opportunity to get rid of some dead weight and Aero. Yet I see impactful employees release and the t–ds that are skating by still.

@5oau, if you’re 20% cheaper and not on the old pension plan, keeping you is a long term reward for them. At least, until they hire someone cheaper than you later on for you to train...

@4myi, “ somehow HW still needs 2 or 3 layers of directors”

It’s a legal and ethical version of military doctrine - “defense in depth”.
Those layers deflect responsibility for the upper layers decisions.

I'm a newer employee. I hired in as a senior. I thought for sure I was gone. About a year experience at senior level. 4 weeks of severance then they'd be done with me. However they got rid of seniors in my group with 20+ years experience. The knowledge they had was way more than what I have and they are going to be paying them a lot longer than I would have been paid. None of it makes sense. I've worked for honeywell in the past so it's not a complete surprise.

There was a considerable amount of talent RIF'd, along with some who should have been out the door years ago. Yet I also see employees who should have been RIF'd, but were either saved by VP or they're still entrenched in their positions. Leadership high on the totem pole picked the IVRIF employees and managers had no input until the RIF was announced. Some smart and lucky managers were able to save a few team members, but most were stunned that the VPs who chose the unlucky ones didn't know what critical employees did and by the sheer stupidity of the IVRIFs. And that, kids, is why HON Aero will fail in the future. ALT is clueless.

Are you actually shocked by that? That the good people get whacked while the Douche-Nozzles remain? That's the way it is everywhere. Goes to show there is no logic to layoffs. Every time it happens, the logic is different. Common sense is lost among the leadersh*t making the decisions.
Look at the last couple of weeks. If they think they are going to make the milestones with the people they whacked with knowledge of the product, I sure wish I had what they were smoking. It must be pretty good. Wish I was at those meetings just for what they were handing out. Saving $ for the best smoke and snort for themselves.

Regarding old farts - I’m sure that we all know people of different ages that seem to work really hard at not working. I for one am 60 + and have been at this company since the 80’s. I work circles around many because it’s still my job to get work done and that’s just who I am.

Remember just a matter of time before YOU are released.

I think there is an unspoken understanding that the old farts will be grumpy and slow but get to keep their jobs because it’s really hard for 60-somethings to find a new job.

HR and Legal picked people in a way that those impacted by RIF did not mostly fall within any specific class to avoid a lawsuit, it had nothing to do with performance or impact to the business. Next RIF will be the same

Yup agreed... Perfect example I see from the floor. Quality manager for Sky Harbor RO. Where his entire team thinks he’s a joke.
