Think of the approval rating as a flowchart.
Is the stock up? Yes? Keep on with what you're doing. Wall Street never says "Their stock is down, but their employees just LOVE them."
Is the stock up? No? Then make changes to make the company more profitable, which involves laying off more employees and closing facilities.
Note that nowhere in the flowchart does it say "Make changes to create a better workplace with higher morale."
This thread has a higher approval rating than the ceo of Union Pacific.
Terrible leader and CEO. Never forget about his September 2017 companywide email basically stating that "the layoffs were over" how can anyone trust anything that he says.

@1thm: OMTs were regularly asked to leave positive Glassdoor reviews while at UPC for training. This was usually done near the end of a class. Anyone who ever had to stay awake or try not to vomit during one of CEO's (many) videos remembers being asked to do this. The 6% approval rating for a sitting corporate executive is pathetic, but doesn't matter to the shareholders. They're laughing all the way to the bank.
Fun fact: some of the worst Glassdoor reviews are left by current and former OMTs.
Another fun fact: the UP CEO is less popular than Congress overall.
Where did you get your information about OMT’s being asked to fill out reviews. Did you witness this? Or is this a rumor someone repeated to you and now you are parroting? I am not saying you are lying, but I do think you are misinformed.
Did they send out a mass email to every single manager asking them to do a positive review on Glassdoor? No.
Have they in the past asked managers in Omaha that were in the leadership development program to fill out positive reviews on Glassdoor? Yes they have.
Just because you don’t have knowledge of these events doesn’t make it false.
I am not pro company after what has transpired over the past few years. That said, it is totally false that anyone is asking for management to review the company on Glassdoor or any other site. Whoever is saying this is wrong. The reviews reflect how the workforce feels, but nobody is asking for positive reviews to counter the bad ones. This is another false rumor someone started.
We know he’s rich dumb a–. He’s a CEO. He’s also the lowest ranked CEO and is a direct reflection of UP. And they do care because they beg people in Omaha to fill out good reviews and they also fill out fake reviews themselves. Nice try though. Can’t wait for the rankings to come out this year again with UP still at the bottom just like 2019. 😂😂😂

I am pretty sure he doesn’t care. If you had his bank account you wouldn’t either. The only people that pay attention to ratings like this are the workers. Sadly how CEO’s are perceived by their workforce doesn’t matter in this day and time. The board and large stock holders don’t care either as long as they are making a profit.
