NS doesn't plan on paying back business loans, keep employees for a year and it turns into a grant. Hire to fire.

They are going to hire a bunch of conductors, pay them 600 a week for 6 months (about $700 every 2 weeks take home) then lay them all off. Sh– hole company.

Yeah I got that mass email that NS send everybody. It said they're accepting transfers to T&E from non T&E employees on furlough. I'm sure they will probably get a handful of the younger guys who were near that bottom of the shop rosters who haven't found solid work yet. In my case, I found a good job with decent pay and good benefits so no way in hell I'd burn a bridge to go back to NS just to get laid off again, and be back at zero with no job. But for someone who doesn't have anything, I could see transferring being a good move.

Also it can be used as a tool to boost that stock price. High a bunch then do a big layoff at the end of the quarter. Squires will brag about the unprecedented efficiency increases while maintaining record breaking customer satisfaction during the earnings call 😆

That's because lots of the newer hires are quitting at a fast rate, and the ones who were furloughed over the past few years don't want any parts of coming back.
