They canned Mike Bontell over a year ago too. Dumb mistake. Lots of scuttlebutt on why he left but it was all kept quiet.
I had no idea this happened until today... I don't pay a lot of attention to the corporate announcements. This was interesting though because there was next to no warning, and nothing from Gelston himself. I think it's clear that he either left over a conflict or was pushed out. Likely the new building had something to do with it, but honestly he wasn't a real impressive leader. I didn't and still don't understand how he ended up running SLC to begin with since he's not an engineer, isn't a retired General Officer (or even a Colonel), and didn't come up through the company.
Now if they can just fire Dan Watt we'll be in business.
Dan was always very personable and approachable. I personally had a conversation with Dan in December 2019 over the turmoil of vacation and benefits (Pension, 401k, etc). He said he always tried to look at things from the point of view of the employee and that he was pushing back and if they fired him for it, oh well. Dan was right. Dan was fighting for the employee.
I might have criticized Dan for Gongzilla and the "high school pep rallies" but now I'll honestly miss it and the desperately needed lightheartedness that Harris, I mean L3Harris, is missing.
Welcome in the new Legacy Harris overlord so they can s— all knowledge, life, skill, and trade secrets from CSW and discard (divest) the withered husk.
True - I did receive that 9K bonus and it was glorious. Although everyone had time over the Christmas holiday except for the few like me, I thought it was quite generous. Everyone I talked to said that was the first time L3 ever gave an incentive bonus that large in over 30 years.
Guess we will see what happens in SLC.
I like to have a glass half-full approach. Otherwise, why work for a place that you despise, hate, or have no passion or desire for? Sure, I understand taking away some benefits, 401K matching, etc. but I still have a great job that pays well. More so than other jobs. Sure, always room for improvement. In this case, MAJOR improvement.
Lets do a little CEO history, how many presidents have go through in the last 10 years....5 presidents just for SLC. Wow! They can barely last 2 years a piece. Are we really that hard to manage? I thought SLC was one of the most profitable sites for the entire company?
I feel like G may have actually cared too much about employees and didn't fit the Harris narrative because of that. I like to think he gave us $9k because he knew just how much b—s— Harris was about to pull. Total shot in the dark to be honest but he seemed like a guy who cared. Harris is rather soulless it would seem. It's a cancer that has affect BCS and I hope we go into remission before we flatline. I know it's k–ling me, my coworkers, my management, and now even him. We ALL need to make our voices loud and clear. Stop destroying L3!
Replacing someone who cared with some Harris Richester radio salesman. Billy! Please divest us now!
does it matter? first strike: he didn't do much. second strike: he's legacy L3. third strike: ??? But, yerrrrr out!
