Do they have a script, because mine’s treating me like I’m walking on water. I just can’t believe that Honeywell would allow a manager to talk about what a fantastic person I am and how important my work was to the company.

It is scary that managers were not involved in this decision. Those selected were simply expensive line items on a spreadsheet to someone higher up, unaware of that persons unique skills and value to the company. Truly scary way to run a business.
Yes, your manager didn't have anything to do with your RIF and the decision was likely at least two levels above the manager. They attend a class to teach them how to discuss the RIF process and the speech that everything is unicorns and rainbows with you.
Interesting. Typically they have a script to keep them from getting sued. Goes something like this..
We have eliminated your position, and after reviewing your skillsets, we don't have any other positions you are qualified for.
Maybe your manager had nothing to do with who was laid off and actually feels bad? Pumping you up to encourage you for future career.
Would you like to then be told that you’re a complete waste of company resources and that for every breathe of air drawn in the office is non-worthy.
Its called being polite even if you’re a complete mo–n.
