Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

bp invests $1B in carbon intense infrastructure in India?

So why would a company that has a goal to be carbon neutral by 2050 invest $1 billion in gas stations? Shouldn’t they be investing in low carbon infrastructure? I don’t get it. It is as if bp are talking
out of both sides of their mouth.

This deal has been in the making for some time so no surprise. But not supported by the work force. Plus BP also just laid out another $70M investment into an India based Renewable Investment fund. Question is how wise are these investments when almost all the current divestitures have been “vendor financed”.....Alaska, San Juan Basin, Anadarko, now PetroChem. The poor poor debt ratio of this company is astounding!!!! It’s even more astounding that stockholders don’t revolt with derivative lawsuits against this new Management Team and BOD.

But carbon doesn’t stay within their borders. Don’t they teach the “tragedy of the commons” at uni anymore?

Money is money. They take our jobs in tech, call centers, purchasing functions. A little carbon is good for them.
