Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Offer

Gentlemen if Union Pacific offers early retirement packages take it. To get 100% tier 1 at 15-20 yrs service is heaven.

I remember when crying jack didn’t get his buyout and threatened to quit anyway.

They dangled this in front of the field managers back in Oct 2018 when the PSR reductions first started. Half of the managers took up the offer only to be told that it didn't apply to most of them. UP offering a buyout is just their way of smoking out the people who want to quit, which is probably everybody who works there at this point.

I’d dip my testes in honey and t-bag an ant hill for 100% at 15 yrs.

I would take a doughnut 🍩 and cup of ☕ for 100% early retirement. Imagine being qualified to retire and you're still taking calls at 2 am hahaha hahahaha

The last buyout to the managers in 2017 added 5 years to your age or years of service. The buyout before that was 18 years ago. There’s no reason for another buyout, they will just cut your job and walk you off property. Don’t get your hopes up.

Well, Lance called me today. I been a machinist for 17 years and I’m 42 years old. He offered me $250k buyout, plus full tier 1 retirement, which will be around $3500 a month for the rest of my life.

I turned it down. Told him I enjoy the job too much. Back to turning wrenches

They wouldn’t offer anything to employees we are just liabilities to the top echelon. They only offer misery to most of us.

They’ll offer it and every single manager will request it like last time. They’ll let a few people close to retirement retire and eliminate their jobs. Everyone else will be sad.
