Here is a little treasure for the shareholders of ExxonMobil stock. The very people ranking the top talent of this company are in direct competition with their direct reports. The individuals making these decisions as to who is or isnt performing to their standards are their direct competition.

Many of the classification levels overlap technical people with supervisory staff.

Do not forget. All executives are ranked the same way. There are 10% of executives in the bottom 10% and many of these will be forced out. XOM rarely demotes an executive.

i can assure you its true. the rating ranking groups go by years out of high school, so basically age. Your manager is invited to the ranking session and has to choose who to rank higher? Unless you are the boss, you get ranked low, low low..

And to think all that time i was afraid to use my amex for a pack of gum on a trip for the business.

It’s ok though. Better to get off the ship before it really lists too much. And this one is top heavy w drunk captains who have murdered their crew.
