It’s pretty much a disaster. Everyone is wise to NS playbook, the furloughed guys aren’t coming back. Supposedly in Toledo only 3 of 90 came back the grapevine says. Care to share your stories about your areas? No one wants to come back only to be laid off again come January. Let the hiring begin, the cycle starts once again!!!!
Please post on job sites like Indeed and leave comments about NS hiring practices so you can keep people from applying and joining this dysfunctional company!
Use the temporary emplooyee, They work for a few weeks, and afterword , we owe them nothing. Who cares about a kind and hard working person who only wants steady work for a fair wage, These people could care less about you and really only want to see you gone , How pathetic
Some locations are recalling people to work for temporary vacation fill ins etc, and it is temporary at that. Some people have refused and I can see their reasoning...found another job so why burn a bridge to go back to work for NS temporary, and have to try to find a new job again when NS is done with you.
Anyone coming back from furlough should understand that it’s only temporary. After vacation season you’ll be sent on your way again.
Toledo has had around 10 return out of 80 so far but a lot of guys are riding unemployment and sticking it to NS while they are short handed but almost all the call backs have until the end of July to come back so it’s hard to see if many will not.
In some locations they are calling mechanical back on rule 24. Witch is a loophole management is using so they don't have to actually put you on the books permanently. You will be escoted off property when they are done with you.
Must be conductors. No mechanical being called back from what I’ve heard. In Detroit mechanical (which is a relatively small amount of guys) I hear they paid out close to 20k in OT for the month of June instead of calling a few guys back. Great business model.
