Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Beyond Crooked:

Just got off the call.

Insane how it is being flaunted as an “opportunity.” It’s not an opportunity. It’s not the job I signed up for. It’s a LAYOFF, but don’t let your boss hear you say that or he’ll fight you tooth and nail to argue otherwise.

Fck Verizon and all of leaderships’ cronies. Let this btch sink.

They started downsizing about 5 years before hans . None the less your point is correct. Very political company with a Anti America agenda

@byt+15YpKVCl I have worked through this entire ordeal and pandemic, being denied vacation time due to “no coverage” while others in my district sat at home getting paid 100% of their salary/Commission. If we called in sick, we had to use our time. We didn’t have options!

This move by Verizon is straight bullsh*t. They are giving options and they want people to make decisions within 5 hours of being notified that their job is in jeopardy.

WFH options are not always available to people who do not have quiet houses, good internet, or other reasons, hence why they were hired to work retail.

Not all districts have open slots, so going to another store isn’t always an option for that person. Want to stay in your store that is overstaffed? Good luck! They are doing it based on tenure, not performance.

This company has gone down hill since November 1, 2019 when they took away coachings and accountability. The quality of the reps has decreased ever since they stopped d–g testing. I give it 5 years till another company buys Verizon courtesy of Hans running another company into the ground.

Just got this news yesterday and at my location and most other location they are giving option to pick and choose between work at store,Wfh telesales or severance. They will also give preference to the employees based on tenure for work from home so it doesn’t matter if you were in top 3 for last some many years and made company more money, the job you signed for is still taken away from you.

Again some people are so naive. you can't say these are not layoffs when they offer a severance package that is only offered to people that were laid off. Just like in the past opportunities are available for people to reapply for. This is also just the beginning...

Exactly, its no opportunity whatsoever. Plain and simple, luckily I know personally a few GMs that have fought tooth to nail to keep their people and store intact.....there are some good leaders in this company. Few and far between sadly.

@kmz+15YpKVCl is right and it is just the beginning. This was planned long before corona . Reps are being asked to go part time and commission is team based now in the hopes that reps will either quit (no severance) or go Telesales. Can't run a store without reps so they will close the stores and convert them to indirect. Think telesales is the answer think again. All centers are now wfh home including telesales which will be outsourced in the near future.

At least you have a job, heathcare, and options if you can adapt. Alot of people can't say that in 2020.

It boggles my mind how stupid people are. People are so gullible. Here's the fax without any sugar coating. They are closing stores. Most will transition into resellers. they are cutting headcount in stores that will remain open. Headcount now has an head hour philosophy. If some people didn't move to part-time in your store they're going to run out of hours. That means people will be pushed out. There is not going to be available slots in any store. This is phase 1 of significantly shrinking the corporate store footprint. They want people to go part-time selling it as a wonderful thing. They're not going to do that unless they need less people working. They're turning retail stores into a touchless experience that requires less humans to work. Store hours are going to be significantly less than before. It's not complicated. Nothing about this is good for anyone. Hans vestberg did the same thing to Erickson communications years ago when he was CEO he destroyed that company. Do your research. Krista is just their token minority female who is doing the dirty work. Using typical socialistic tactics telling you how wonderful things will be when they're taking things away from you. Wake the hell up.

Better they should just have laid you off months ago? They paid you to sit home. Does this s—? Of course it does. But stop being so negative and give the options a shot instead of just complaining. You’re probably just a sh–ty rep that complains about everything

@rul+15YpKVCl: “You have options,” is a sh–ty thing to say to frontline workers who have already dealt with the brunt of Verizon’s mismanagement and DOA partnerships. Save it, bootlicker.

Not to mention, I don’t see any senior leadership getting “options,” yet they contribute virtually nothing. The working class always has options, but it usually means we’re sacrificing something in the process.

Go to another store. Go to telesales. You have options

Millions of dollars donated by Verizon courtesy of Hans, but my store is being closed. How is this putting your employees first Hans? I forgot though Hans only knows how to downsize and k–l companies.
