Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Reduced hours?

Has anyone the US who is still with Xerox Direct or XBS (not HCL or a third party) and exempt had their hours and pay reduced? Heard a rumor it might be coming and wanted to see if its already happening.

Reduced hours isn't a huge money saver. It only makes sense if they want to temporarily cut costs but believe they will need the people in the near future. When they cut hours, the benefits costs remains constant, as does the overhead for facilities, computers, etc.

I just don't see hours getting cut because our revenue isn't likely to be constant where we need the workforce 6 months from now. More likely to see cuts.

At Kodak, they didn’t know when to stop cutting so they waited for processes to break-their indicator that cutting should stop in a particular area. Perhaps Xerox is waiting to see if that has happened yet? Your performance could affect the outcome–good performance keeping the processes running ironically could result in your lay-off.

I'm in Webster and heard the same thing but it was about XDX. Anything could happen at this point, and none of it would surprise me.

Not all HCL people are outside the US, though HCL is hot and heavy to replace with very low paid workers.

Not sure HCL hours cut makes much of a difference - quality. Or money wise. Wonder how much Guatemala employees get paid vs US.

Given shorthandedness, i'm a bit surprised that they didn't keep hours100% but reduce pay instead. Not that I would want that to happen, but when I try to think like a lying thieving screw running the co., that makes more sense.

I wouldn’t put it past them to do this. Direct here and my accounts are picking up and we’re very busy. Thanks to HCL our support personnel had their hours cut 30%. We’ve tried to get their hours reinstated but they won’t. Even when we explain that support for the customer is impacted, they refuse to do it. FREAKING SAD! Let’s upset our remaining customers as they need help restarting their business. Great idea for growth!! Dumb a$$es!

I've heard rumors that reduced hours are coming at some point because they've already cut to the bone using layoffs, and if they cut more, without outsourcing the position, it could end up doing more harm than good since response times and workload are already so bad. So I can see it happening, but if it does I would consider it the "last hours" of the company, because it would mean things are critical at that point.

GIS Core here (hate the XBS c-ap). no cut in pay and most of us (salary) are working more hours w/ no overtime to make up for everyone that is furloughed or just gone. We lost our quarterly bonuses and that hurt. Mine was 1200.00, which made a huge freaking deal in my monthly income breakdown.

XBS also and have heard no speculation about this. No one at our core has had their hours reduced or pay cut. Just HCL (hours cut) and service techs (furloughed). I also would not be surprised to see some sort of cuts coming...
