Thread regarding GE Healthcare layoffs

Got voluntary retirement offer today

Package was 20k to retire on July 1st.
Not worth it after deductions.

You say 20k. I'd take it without a Second thought !

Take the money and run while your pension is still under GE. Remember that the estimate you have today can change at anytime. If the company sells the pension to an annuity fund or goes bust those numbers are not guaranteed. Let’s also realize that this pension will freeze further contributions in the near future as it has already for some.

Ironically a couple of the employees who had offered to move to Chicago didn't make the RIF.

1 week of pay per year of service? Is healthcare extended? how long do those that were canned on Tuesday get to stay on the payroll?
Complete disaster - the spin about how the move to Chicago will actually save money is laughable.
