Regarding UI and severance, I was told by another ex-GAC person that even with the severance, you'll still get unemployment. Severance only impacts unemployment payments if the company is paying you out weekly. So, for example, if you got 8 weeks of severance at Major Dynamics, and they paid it out to you one week at a time for 8 weeks, you couldn't claim unemployment for those 8 weeks. But if you're getting a lump sum, like we are, then at worst it's just that one week that you get hit. Most likely though it won't affect it at all and you'll get UI even then.

You have to provide when the severance starts and ends. How did you find out the date please?

What a PAIN!!! Sooo... I called my HR Rep who confirmed GAC only filed for the period May 1-15 and that I would have to go in and file on my own (which took about an hour and BTW - You also have to go to EmployGeorgia.com and register there as well, uploading your resume, etc., which took another :30 minutes. Anyway, me claim is currently "under review" with the first possible weekly claim beginning the week of 06/03 (read that as GAC got away with two weeks of non-payment!!!). Too bad no one could have informed everyone of that when they told us that they had filed on our behalf, huh? You also have to plug in info about your severance package which has me nervous that GADOL will puke all over the opportunity to pay out anything. What a RIP-OFF!!!

I am going to try to open a file claim myself (as if you are setting it up for the first time) and see if that works

When filing a new claim, what date should we say we get the severance payment ?...

We should have been able to claim for last week and the upcoming weeks until we receive the severance pay. Once you get that payment you will not be able to claim UI because that’s considered weekly income and will stop your unemployment until your severance weeks are over.

I received two weeks UI and an unable to file on my own behalf for the week of 5/23 because the UI website says my employer has already filed for me. Not sure what to do or who to reach out to. I have already signed and return the severance package. I don't know if that will slow up unemployment or if it will help.

Exactly, what I told them. They were of no help. I'm just going to keep calling unemployment and try to get answers through them. I have not signed my severance package yet. I want some clear answers, which we have not been getting from Gulfstream obviously

But when we try to file for last week (3rd week), it says the claim was done by our ex employer. I am completely confused.

I just spoke with 2 from Gulfstream. I was told that they only filed the 2 weeks and we would need to call DOL to find out about the severance package.

Per Admin, after two weeks you have contact the GDOL directly. I can't answer this question nor do I know the correct action. But I've been following this blog and as an option, someone earlier posted a note to wait as you receive the severance and then file for unemployment when everything is received. You would report the gross payout to GDOL. Is this a good option that has been considered by anyone else?

https://twitter.com/GeorgiaDOL/status/1264949856201846785 I was looking at their twitter...Bunch of people are complaining for not having their payment as well. Calling them is also a lost battle.

Sounds like everybody is on the same boat. Not sure how GAC filed for us last week, but something is fishy.

Same here, it seems impossible every time I try to file. Calling DOL will be a waste of time. Not sure what’s next to receive any UI.
