Thread regarding Hertz layoffs

Is this even legal?

Can Hertz really back out of paying severance to people AFTER they have already signed the severance agreement? That sounds highly illegal and ripe for a lawsuit to me.

I don't know much about bankruptcy proceedings, but if this can be done, then there is something seriously wrong with the system.

Sadly, its the law of bankruptcy. They cannot cut the check to anyone now. All you can do is use your agreement and file a proof of claim in the bankruptcy case. All severances are now unsecured creditors in the case.

It's legal. Check your state laws. Once they went bankrupt those who were supposed to get severances will have to go to the back of the line of creditors that are hoping to get paid. I won't be getting severance when they let me go.

Call or email Dept of LAbor and file complaint.
Go to small claims court and file petition.
And in duress for every day money isn’t paid.
