Thread regarding McDermott International Inc. layoffs

Holidays

I heard they are going to go to a 4-10 workweek policy and any holidays on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays wont be paid holidays unless you are at least manager level. A lot of the other engineering companies are doing the same thing.

KBR did this awhile back when they had some bad jobs and bad management. They changed the Management and didn’t go bankrupt. They are doing very well today. Hopefully it will be Monday’s off so we can still have blue jeans Friday.

As I understand it at Technip they regularly scheduled mandatory meetings on fridays so you had to go in regardless. When they went to half day fridays the meetings were moved to the afternoons.

David D does not like 4 day working week, he stopped it at MDR soon after his appointment, and he tried to do it at Technip, but was slapped down. If there is a reduction in days worked, there will be a payoff somewhere, and not one in favor of employees.
