Remember the SRD was supposed to reduce unnecessary layers AND ridiculous reporting. Wasn't it supposed to be minimum 6 direct reports. How they used that to demote and get rid of people. Well, so much for that! Management is independently re-assigning reporting layers as they want so they don't have to deal with supervision. Either HR is that stupid and have no system that monitors this...or, they are in on it. Hope this info gets out to those that were wrongly eliminated when FORD created a fake reorg to discriminate. That they are secretly going back to their old way of business.

FMCC just announced they are bringing in a new executive leader, which adds another layer. Must be for the smart re-build.
@7wwo+15j4NqfJ same experience all 4 of the SRD under manager were older with pension and nearing pension gates for more $. All four were the most respected and productive in the group. After the SRD, 4 promotions to LL6 occurred, 3 GSR were hired and 7 contractors were hired. All of these actions were justified by the manager to backfill the SRD. A year on and the group has not recovered the lost knowledge or productivity.
All of the four SRD had multiple job offers and are much happier and less stressed.
Stay true to yourself, specialize in technical excellence and teamwork. You will not be valued by Ford, but you will be valued by other companies and technical peers. This will ensure you will always have marketable skills and people who will want to work with you.
I was a part of SRD and check these posts every few months. I can’t speak for all organizations but the team I was in didn’t not eliminate people to cut down on org structure or to get the six to one direct report number. They claimed that was the goal but almost all of the people eliminated were older long term employees who would have received a significant increase in pension had they stayed with Ford another year or two. Most were well respected employees with a lot of responsibilities. I don’t know if I was well respected but I did get very good reviews, was productive, cooperative and always worked far more than a 40 hour week. After SRD the teams were reorganized and there were a number of LL6s who had no direct reports.
Working hard, delivering results and being a positive influence will not guarantee continued employment at Ford but it will give you a reputation that makes it much easier to find your next job. From my experience, after the initial shock passes, you’ll be much happier. I hadn’t realized how stressed I was at Ford until it was behind me.

Our experience is that the LL4s and global director saved all their own asses and took the reduction out on LL5, LL6, and GSRs who were the real ones doing the work and running the departments. You can’t trust any of the LL4 and above. 3 of them really need to go before the organization will ever have a chance of getting better again. People that still have to work for them tell me all the time how they hate coming to work everyday. I am so glad I don’t have to be a part of it anymore. My departure turned out to be a great move for me. I love my new Chevy pick-up. Will never buy Ford junk ever again. We are now all are driving Toyota, FCA, and GM.
Of course it was all a shell game. They did the same after previous resource actions.

Wall Street and investors see this Ford management is only fooling theirselves.
A responsible and well run company would be consistently improving the company fitness.

We hear much management talk but see the management eating ice cream and cheesecake instead of leafy greens and vegetables. The company gets less fit.
Most SRD are happier, wealthier and wiser now. Some are happily retired, many are earning more money working fewer hours for fit companies, a minority are bitter and haven’t moved on.
Like the previous poster noted, observe the actions and behaviors, recognize this is how you will be treated in the future, chose your own destiny.
Whenever actions and words do not align, believe the actions.
I was let go last year after dedicating 30 years of service and all I can tell you is that LIFE IS SO MUCH BETTER AFTER FORD. Trust me there are better companies out there, and I work for one of them, that actually have better culture, actually have CEOs and leaders in place that people respect, and that actually give a damn about their employees. Unfortunately Ford is not the same company I started with and with the current management (notice I did not say leadership) in place it will never be the same ever again. If you are not trying to get to retirement soon my advice is get the hell out of there. It is not worth the frustration and the dysfunctional management. Life is better without Ford.
SRD was total b—s—. Hackett spewing the Redesign b—s— before they pulled the trigger. It was obvious within two months after the folks who where eliminated when then promoted people into those positions after telling the SRD Recipients that the position is being eliminated. Just a bold face lie. Zero trust in the current leadership and company as a whole. Just a damm shame as allot of good, passionate employees got a kick in the a–.
Sooo Ford to make a policy they can't track. Attorney repping the discrimination suit should try to get a reporting report from the HR system. Probably lots of incidents. they are clueless.
