So the bank is not laying anyone off supposedly this year. I wonder if they’ll offer buyouts or volunteer layoffs. If so, I’d sign up. A lot of people are fearful of being laid off and I totally get that, but I bet people would volunteer to be laid off with the right package too. Could be a win win!

I am not scared of a lay-off. I will welcome it when the time comes. I understand why people are scared though. The skills of many are sub par, they’ve got bills to pay, like the comfort of familiarity, kids in college or going into college, there are any number of reasons to stay, almost at retirement...But there are also real reasons to leave or reasons to accept buyout too.
I noticed than most who were laid off are still unemployed after their severance ran out, or have taken any job they could get, often no improvement over BNY.
I want to work here because I like my job and coworkers that are left, and want to keep paying my bills.
But if a better opportunity comes along, I am outta here.
I do not understand why people at BNY are so scared of lay-off ? World outside is so beautiful and people you work are charming, I guess who want to be here wants more pain and humiliation. Your skill is dying or technically misleading, time is now to act. If not then you are either working for this bank too long or you don’t have skill to fight the market.
They should offer voluntary layoffs in 2021.
Considering there will be no raises in 2021 (for prior year), this will ease stress on people who fear loss of job and accommodates people who are financially positioned to take sub payouts such as those a year or two out from retirement.
In situations where an entire team is being eliminated because the function is being eliminated or moved, the executives should be transparent in advance to allow those employees an opportunity to apply internally for another position. Management can coordinate the start date to make sure prior functions are transferred before the employee begins their new role.
This will go a long way toward rebuilding trust and showing that BNYM really is willing to invest in their employees along with contributing to their training and career advancement.
I would be a volunteer
Be careful what you ask for, they definitely troll this site! Notice the changes recently? You can cry from the rooftops for years and never be heard, but you post something on here and, Voila! You are heard!
