Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Support team hours

Support team hours have changed from 5am till 2 o’clock to 8 to 5. Being told that this is the schedule indefinitely. Is any others hearing the same or something different? When we were called back last week it was communicated that it was short term. Now the story has changed.

With the new store structure coming, many positions will be eliminated, both in sales and manger positions. Staffing will be cut and will be all hands on deck. People will be getting burnt out. It will not be pretty....and as far as trucks of merchandise. . Not until August,

I think this thread is very telling to anyone support and anyone in general. We are in a new normal and Macy's is relying on people who do their work. Someone on TL speculated that if possible, would most stores would use the furlough to weed out and ditch non-productive employees. Where stores can do it, I think it's happening.

Tomorrow, our phase 2 commences. The second tier lazy and complaining managers come back. Let's see how long they can keep their mouths shut and do their jobs.

Even the managers they called back are the ones who actually work. Not the ones going getting coffee or on their phones all the time.

In my store, we are getting more done with less people.
By eliminating the complainers and lazy colleagues we can better focus on our daily needs.
Not having to babysit these colleagues has made the day so much more enjoyable.

It will be interesting to see how the store will get signed, mark downs accomplished and the truck unloaded and floor moves completed all before the doors open. In our store the same small group of people do it all. I guess we shall see.

Well considering most stores are now open 11-7, there is no need for the support team to come in at 5am anymore. We have to look at it as the new norm. Sadly, some may have to pick the job that gives them what they need at this time.

Depends on your definition of"short term"
Is it two weeks, three weeks, six months?
We've been told we will be 11am-7pm operating hours for at least the next 2 months. No one is needed at 5am right now.

ummmmmmm those 5am hours often work b/c people have their second jobs in the afternoon—8-5 doesn't leave a lot of time for that.

You have to understand, things are going to change according to the business needs. That is the climate we are working in.
I personally find it very exciting.
We are taking an iconic business and fighting to bring it into the future.
I think we are going to do this :)
