I made it onto this list but really am not clear what the benefit is.

Hey, they didn't offer to add me to the redeploy list when I got canned last yr. Didnt even know about it
Correct, you would still need to interview like any other internal posting.
I was told it means I can apply but I still have to interview etc. Jobs are currently internal only.
I am glad they are going this route for now as there are many great people that were rifd that are trying to get back with United even at reduced salaries. This may curtail that some by getting them transferred before being laid off and at their current pay.
It means your current department needs to cut and your manager is trying to find you another position within the company vs. laying you off. Hiring managers within the company are supposed to go on the re-deploy list first to fill open positions within their areas.
Re-Deployment is another way is saying Temporary Position. The terms of employment will be until the next wave of lay offs which I believe will continue until at least 2021.
I don’t know for sure but I believe it means that as other departments look to backfill or hire, your name will be on the list to move into one of those roles.
Most departments are not being allowed to recruit externally at this time unless they require a specific clinical license, instead they’re being asked to select from internal transfers.
Some of those have been temporary redeployments and others have been permanent.
Best of luck!
