Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Verizon should look what happened to Circuit City

I have been through this before. Circuit City went from salesman based commission to a store commission. They sold it as it would be better for the customer.. some sh– they are feeding us now. The top sellers just stoped working as their pay went down almost 50%. It was a major miscalculation that experts say lead to the end of the company.

First of all, Verizon is not in the retail model, they are telecom company that happen to sell the phones they allow in their network...
You want to know what the future will be like? Just look at the Tesla selling model: you buy a $60k car with a swipe of a finger, pick it up, sign a couple of papers and off you go....
Verizon started this when they took the cellbrites away and decided to force customers to be liable for their own content...

It is amazing how many people have drank to Verizon Kool Aid. They keep opening express stores. People don't need a sales person for a phone. Phones are not something that is a nice to have. It is true there is a group of the customer base that wants full service. However look at the propaganda video.. they "ask" customers how they want to shop. Yet these customers were younger.

We are not best buy though. People go to best buy to buy stuff, People come to Verizon to get sold stuff. People don't leave best buy with sh– they don't need or really want. That's the truth. No one at best buy is like "oh you just gotta get this because it's a good deal, or a requirement of the deal" "look how much you will save if you do this" Bestbuy will ask you maybe 3 things, do you want geek squad protection? Do you want to apply for a credit card? or maybe if you want some extra software with your PC. This model won't work because no one wants to go to a Verizon store to spend money. They go expecting they are going to have to spend tons of money, get a higher bill and be basically hard sold. They are either knowingly or unknown shooting their selves in the foot trying to be like an electronics boutique. How ever the old people might buy into it and buy more sh– if we hold their hand for a good survey.

Verizon is prematurely preparing for the baby boomers to die off so there will be less needy older people coming in that want everything done for them. That is the confusion with our current retail stores. People come into a retail store to shop and get hands on with the intention that they will get help to set everything up. The retail stores are trying to evolve into something that won’t happen for another 20 years. Forcing that change now is/will hurt them. It is a short term problem with long term ramifications.

And they will be perfectly fine. One thing Verizon has that Circuit City didn't... A network making billions...

I was just thinking this. I worked for the city and the company k–led itself. Always worried about what best buy was doing. So many comparables over the years and this is just a nail in the coffin. Verizon's future plan for retail is zit faced kids in high school filling in-store pickup orders.
