Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

"Verizon announces a massive paycut to their frontline "hero" workers just days after being voted the best covid-19 company to work for"

Seems like a great headline to me. Wish I knew a reporter that wanted a big story about a company that says they truly care about the social impact they make.
On paper, they can say we make the same, to avoid unemployment claims for diminished wages but that is the underhanded way that Verizon has always done things. "Social responsibility" is just their latest buzzword bs.

You were never a hero. Your pay structure was always going to change regardless of the pandemic. The slamming technique is not a skill that will be valuable to you when Verizon has laid you off.

Remember, if you are being called a "hero" you are really a zero - a s—er.

Rumor is the Verizon actually paid Forbes for that ranking.

In reality this is not accurate even though I fall in the top 1% of the company and will lose thousands. The opportunity to make such great commission was always at risk month by month. There was no guarantee anyone was going to make 3-4K checks. In regards to a pay cut that may be true for some but not most. The spin Verizon is putting on it is that they are raising all of our salaries per year by at least 4K. I know plenty of reps who are happy about this. It is projected that 40% of reps will actually make more on the new plan and about 25% breaking even. Ultimately that leaves 35% of reps making less...with some losses a lot more then others. It has been a great 16 year run for me but I can’t see how I can show up to work knowing I will be making 40k less then the previous year.
