Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Fed ex packages indicate layoffs this Friday

I have heard from some that they have received a package at Fedex from Oracle America. It's a good sign that you just got laid off. I have no idea how many have been sent, but can confirm that some sort of layoff is going to happen by Friday. I'd expect a mandatory meeting from your manager or a higher up.

The Fedex package will explain what you will get in severance and when you will get it as well as your medical benefits through cobra while you look for another position over the next 30 days. Piece of advice if you get a package. It's a nice package, but don't waste your time looking internally. I don't know of anyone who landed another position inside Oracle.

The fed ex envelope is very distinctive.

As someone that worked in the mailroom, I saw them come through all the time. I knew that when I saw that package I would contact the manager immediately, they would come get it, because that was the one package I couldn’t deliver.

No notice allowed.

I’d get a term notice shortly after.

Anyways, it’s a thicket envelope from HR.

Good luck everyone! This year is a particular nail bitter.

Obviously nothing happened and the OP was just trying to stir up fear.

The "information" shared here has become worthless.

I had a conference call with my manager's manager to tell me that after 19 1/2 years I was a part of the "downsizing". This was on a Thursday and that Friday would be my last day. My accounts were turned off 2 hours later. The good news is that they did me a favor. Found a much better job 2 months later and never looked back. I knew Oracle was a BS company, but the way they lay people off is completely sad.

“Stay calm, you'll know you're getting laid off well before they mail out the layoff letters“

Yeah, I got literally an hour. Phone call from my manager, then the official notice, payoff check from Fedex.

Maybe in other countries, but in the US, there is no law or anything that requires notice prior. It’s called employment at will. If you don’t have an employment contract, that’s what you get.

Of course it goes without saying, or should:

If you are spending time and worry over will I get a FedEx package, you are in the wrong place.

I was given false assurances and an excellent review, so I didn’t expect anything. You only make that mistake once in your career. Better to learn from others mistakes, right?

You won't necessarily know. It depends on how things are done by your management. Different groups handle it in different ways.

My friends who were laid off end of February had the Meeting before the notice of the FedEx package.

I got a fedex package myself earlier this year. It was a notice about my health insurance. Needless to say, I'm still there. Stay calm, you'll know you're getting laid off well before they mail out the layoff letters
