Agreed! My boss keeps trying ensure me it will be ok, but the unfortunate truth is sometimes the real decision (budget cutters) arent honest with directirs until the final hour 😳,so more unfortunately they seal the deal and we all wait🙏. I was also told "nothing" will be the same go forward, they will continue WFH process and that there was alot of work ahead when/if we go back.

Thank you for the update, either way! I appreciate the sharing of information here. It’s good not to feel alone in unknowing.

Hello again, my update from zoom is not much. Very vague & told us things were on known insurance ending was brought up insinuating we should have some update by then it was said the company has been working very hard on safety precautions & that when employees are cled back it may look like working from home unless your job is 100% necessary to be at the office to get the work done. Im sorry this is not much insight especially in regards to our announcement or being contacted about return. My boss was very delicate about what to say and not so she didnt break code of conducting work with furloghed.

Hi to post by 3zfk+15s1XEwT,

Im the one who was to have the zoom TB, it was rescheduled to tomorrow (thursday), however i belive the announcement will be between mon-weds sometime next week. I do know there is some sort of shakedown & it makes sense to layoff before they start paying for new insurance plan. It also makes sense due to NY almost reaching our phase 2 of opening & that the new budget for company starts August. I will post again tomorrow and give any insite i may gather, however since the zooms while on furlough are not "business" i doubt any concrete info will be said.
I too was hoping one of higher ups would give a heads up on this blog.
I believe we were furloughed on a monday if i remember correctly?

I'm hoping that the later they leave it to give a definitive announcement, the more likely they will extend the medical coverage and furlough status till the end of July. I mean we need SOME time to regroup if we're all sent packing, no?

For the person that a Zoom touchbase update with their boss this week, how did it go? I was hoping that you would share anything you learned here!

I was also hoping that we would get news this week. I’m surprised by how little has seemed to leak this time around. I no longer think it will happen this week as I don’t think that they would announce big layoffs on Juneteenth (Friday), and especially after the CEO’s weekly message addressing this topic. However unfortunately, nothing with this company seems to move in a logical way.

I’m an in store executive and when I was on furlough, my boss had to have e a zoom call with the executive team to let us know we were going to reopen. We didn’t have access to work emails or teams so we had to provide personal emails for the invites to the zoom calls. We weren’t taken advantage of at all. We had 2 calls to make sure we were all informed of what was going on and to ask questions - 40 mins tops each time. None of us were upset about having these calls. It’s better than being in the dark.

Yeah, no pay and our regional requires us to join Zoom meetings. We are all told these Zoom calls are on a voluntary basis, but no one wants to be the one who declines the opportunity to work for free. Well, at least we are still getting benefits.

Guys, we furloughed are not allowed on microsoft teams or any macys affiliate email. So we either get a skype or zoom invite when info is shared during this process.

I refuse to take any c-ap from customers during this time! If they don't like it , please go and b–ch some place else. the phrase "customer is always right" no longer matters! Have a nice day.

I have experience in both the store level and corporate and ALL are needed! Store teams have to deal with nasty customers, risking their lives, work their asses off doing multiple jobs to please the customer - it's a very emotionally/physically draining job and it's non-stop! I probably walked 20,000 steps/day and the Store Managers (and their team) have to do SO much more work these days compared to when I have I was in stores due to STAFFING CUTS. The associates are only 1 person to do fitting room/put away clothes, keep their area clean/pick up the sh– left from the customers, and also ring at the register at the same time while "harassing" the customer to open a Macys credit card bc MACYS demands every associate to open 2/wk (or something along those lines) for min wage. Unfortunately, we're not one of those retailers that has 1 person do fitting room, 1 person do recovery, 1 person do register... (which how it should be) but due to staffing cuts that 1 person has to do it all!
In Corporate, yes we have the luxury of working from home or working from a desk .. and it's NOT physically draining like the stores. But it is emotionally draining and A LOT more technical-driven than stores which requires a lot of knowledge and expertise. The product doesn't just arrive at the store's dock with little to no effort - lots of planning and negotiating from MANY different teams are involved to ensure that product arrives on your dock on time. I wish Macys would require all corp people to work in stores for 2 weeks as part of orientation bc it would be very insightful, for full circle knowledge.

CORP SHOULD KNOW BETWEEN NOW-JULY. NEW SEASON STARTS AUGUST.

Seriously children. Slow it down .
Before you slam one another whose job matters more .
All MATTER. !
If you think corporate is any easy task you are sadly wrong.
How do you think the merchandise is designed, developed , negotiated, bought , planned , allocated , photographed and advertised for your Stores to have the product on your selling floors ?

You chose the path to be In stores others chose the corporate path .
One with each other cannot be successful.

The poster who is desperately asking for information regarding is because they are not receiving any information. They are being told wait another week & maybe we will know more then .

Don’t think for a minute it’s “fun” at home working on a computer for upwards of 12 hours a day, having a family to care for , kids screaming for a snack and a dog slobbering in your lap to go for a walk .

There’s enough stress , anxiety and anger in our country .
Show some pride , care about one another -
Stop tearing each other down .
Now more than ever do we need to hold each other up .
The company isn’t doing that for you !
Are they ?
From one of my favorite movies
“You are kind , You are smart , You are important “
🎥 The Help.

What came first the chicken or the egg?
Same story....without the stores you’d have no jobs we generate income along with .com

And we do get the brunt of it in stores.
We don’t get to sit at home and work on computers.
We have people screaming at us at least once a day about things out of our control
We also are risking ourselves everyday on the front lines in a pandemic to make sales to keep the company afloat and your sitting at HOME on your computer safe and sound. While we wear masks and try to breathe properly your answering emails in your pajamas mask free.

It’s stressful and awful and i don’t wanna see comments of “Just leave”. Ok to where? Because If i could I would.
You think I want to deal with this? That any of us do?
Some of us have a heavy investment in the stores. Nobody saw this coming.
My growth potential is gone with this company that I’ve invested in and hung around for. Add that realization onto all the other stress.

  1. What would all the corporate people do if

store line people said forget it and banded together and stopped going to work?

  1. Corporate people

Wouldn’t have a job.

Appreciate the store line.

To the below post:
First...dont be rude by comparing corporate vs stores.
Second ...if you dont have corporate you have no stores.
Third ...stay safe

Shut up about corporate, no one is crying for you. The stores bear the worst brunt of everything.

I would like to know the answer to that too, with regards to corporate/MMG. Very frustrating, it's literally making me physically sick. I actually like my job & praying to stay!
