Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

How long will they keep us guessing?

I don't think it's fair to announce layoffs in thousands and then just let us wait for who knows how long to find out who is being shown the door. Now most of us will spend the following days or weeks, or who knows - maybe even months, with dramatically increased stress levels - as if working here wasn't stressful enough to begin with.

This is simply inhumane, in my opinion.

You all should have been working for Esurance when they dropped the email bomb on us that Allstate was taking us over. You Allstaters got the same email. The Esurance managers didn’t know about it, heads of our departments didn’t know about it. We had managers running around wondering if it was a hoax because the A$$hats at Allstate didn’t bother to tell our upper management for hours after the news broke. I know you are all worried about your jobs, but Esurance employees are officially Allstate employees now, guess who will be first on the chopping block? 1. The whole office in CA (product development, billing, IT, claims, Subro) there’s your first 200. 2. The rest of the redundant Esurance jobs across the country, claims support, claims trainers, IT, more Subro. Then whatever fat Allstate thinks they have left will be directed at the veteran Allstate employees.
Good luck everyone, it’s almost the end of June.

Local leadership meetings came and went today and they have yet to have any kind of dialogue with the local adjusters. Your correct to say this is stressful to say the least. Been here a long time and hard to believe this is how they handle this process. Let’s have our employees stressing about their careers and expect us them to be positive and productive. Hope it all works out.

The other option is a surprise, out of nowhere lay off. That doesn’t seem like a better option. At least we all have time to prepare.

I believe the announcement was made early with hopes that attrition will take care of most positions. Local CSL’s do not know who/when, we only have the same information that was provided on the call. Unfortunately, nothing we can do to stop it, only wait and see.

Save your vacation time, don't listen to the managers who are urging everyone to use their vacation time. This is a ploy to payout less.

Yes I’d like to know sooner than later but it won’t work that way. Dangle the carrot, oh Tommy boy. I’m sure your wife wears plenty with your 16M salary.

Our vacation time is accrued. So they’ll pay you up to what you’ve earned minus what you’ve used. If you use more than what you’ve accrued, they’ll take your money to pay for those days.

Seriously, leave the insurance industry... its not worth it. Go to either medical, tech or government fields. The pay is infinitely higher with lower stress. I remember telling my claims office buddies this before leaving myself, and then literally my entire old office got shut down and outsourced to a cheaper state. It can be done!!

I'm in ANI and our managing director wished us a "good weekend" after confirming to us on Friday that we would not be spared the "transformative growth".

I would just like to know now.

Shapiro was the worst thing to happen to Allstate. And from personal experience...he is an a**hole and degrading to women.

Yeah, this really s—s. Manager meeting tomorrow with Dressel. It really has to s— for the managers who will probably know who it’s going to be and can’t say anything. And then have to act like nothing is going on.

The town hall said some will find out late June / early July, the majority will know by Sept 30. Agree this is very stressful.

I have a health condition aggravated by stress. I was already experiencing a flare with everything else going on; now I am feeling even worse.
