Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Antares Strategy

T'was the week before Father's Day and things are looking quite grim,
both recalled and furloughed, colleagues and leaders, out on a limb.
As the sun sets on Polaris and the Antares ascends,
announcements are coming, farewell to more friends.
If your job is important and upon it the family relies,
then consider the future when choosing what's wise.

Titles and responsibilities all shuffled and changed,
allows layoffs based on preference to be fully ranged.
How long have you worked here, how long will it be,
before you burnout or the hunger games you will see.
If the music stops and you don't have a chair,
count yourself lucky, as Covid is still in the air.

No masks for customers required, we just follow the law,
NPS and sales over safety, should be the last straw.
As markdowns are taken, inventory sells and no goods arrive,
it's easy to see, you will be tasked with what used to take five.
Jeff shuffled the deck and took a risk at the start of the year,
moving seniors from far to regions that are near.

The shakeup and movement intended to revitalize the North Star
resulted in Directors living in store parking lots, campers, and cars.
When West goes East and East goes West, who is left that knows talent best,
reopening, recalling, trying to survive, and social issues to wrest?
Amazon, Target, and Belk too, check your LinkedIn, there may be a message for you,
so many of those once considered the future have fled, the number not few.

Select leaders recalled within the last seven days,
which for those still on furlough should certainly faze.
Covid and Polaris have dug a hole deep,
the careers and bodies needed to fill it will make us all weep.
Announcements and conversations start happening soon,
as the new Starbucks Wundermann is ready to prune.

I agree, and the Antares thing is hilarious when you look up what that is

This poet who does writes these every 6 months should be running our marketing Department. They are very creative and certainly more interesting and engaging then the “lighthouse grieving child”

Could someone explain how a failure of a CEO be given the Starbucks CEO position ? I don’t even understand how the board didn’t kick him to the curb years ago . The yahoo article slaughtered him for the smoke and mirrors with the weather . Then he used it again. Learn from your mistakes.

Contrary to the prior post, the ~2000 job cuts/CNBC announcement was related to the announcement of Polaris in February and the associated cuts that took place across all offices. For this time period, the only thing that has been said publicly is that Macy’s will be a smaller company.

Beautiful. (Needs a little work with the metering though.)

Enjoyed that. Thanks for the effort you put in to bring us this insight in such a pleasant way.

What would they hire JG? He does not know that business and he is a destroyer, not a builder. Look at the track record. But anything to get him away from us would be great.
