The bigger question is what are the director/vp doing?
Every other layer of management should be eliminated.

So take away your product development /purchasing/finance and we will see how fast current and future model programs come to a halt ? But what do you care you still get your 4% raise nearly $0 HC cost and your $19k bonus. Did any of the hourly give up their pay increase? NO.
So why as a salary person would I (or anyone in my family) buy a vehicle from the Oval after your comment? If you think I would buy a vehicle to save your job and listen to that comment. I guess i will by a foreign vehicle next time.

Totally disingenious to blame external costs and lack of sales income on "information" aka office workers who are working remotely. Not to mention that most office work is about optimizing business flows and not generating green dollars.
@asm+15v5exSl - Have you actually ever gotten good work out people located in low cost countries working online? Two decades of working with off-shored resources has me convinced that there isn't any savings, those locations are money pits. The truly skilled people who can compete on the global market, especially those that speak clear international English, have all gone to work in higher income locales to make much, much better money. Those resources in low cost Asian countries are hard to communicate effectively with, do only what is asked at the very most and usually produce results that need a LOT of clean up and re-working.
Ford lost many IT employees because they were unwilling to let them work remotely.
Ford is unable to recruit highly skilled IT workers because they don’t want to live in Metro Detroit and also because the pay and culture are very bad. Ford thinks the train station will magically make Detroit appealing. LMAO.
Maybe Ford will change the work remote restriction permanently. More than likely they will just shift the IT work to India.
Near as I can tell the loafers continue to loaf. They comprise 60% of team. The LL6 continues to do nothing. We have one guy who is working at his family owned business everyday, but Ford also pays him to do nothing. He logs on every morning and has an app running to make it appear like he his doing something on the computer. Both the LL6 and LL5 know. Disgusting
If having everyone work from home is so great, why did ford lose $2 Billion last quarter and expects to lose another $5 Billion next quarter? Get off the internet and do something that generates revenue!
It seems a lot of companies are switching for most of their workforce to do work from home at least for the year perhaps permanently. I am in IT and this is nothing new, I can create and fix apps without stepping into the office. It's also in the news many companies are seeing productivity increase. For my job the only purpose I see in going to office is to see people and attend in person meetings. Not much sense in going to the office right now if I have to wear a mask my entire shift and only take it off for 15 minutes to eat. I also have to social distance 6 feet the conference rooms will make that difficult to achieve so there goes the in person meetings.
This is going to weed out necessary employee expense from wasteful spending. If you are not needed in the office, your job can be done by someone in India or China for a fraction of what you are being paid. I highly recommend showing up in your office more often than not.
Not everybody stays home, just the salary employees who do not contribute to the operation of producing vehicles. This is great news for those who have zero accountability for anything, they stay home doing nothing of value for the company for another six months at full pay and benefits!
