Im a counter manager that was furloughed and sadly wasnt called back in for round 1 of reopening. When I asked the store manager if I will be called back later on she just shrugged it off and moved on. Should I be worried? Our store isnt opening till sometime in July now and benefits will run out soon. I thought as a counter manager I would've def been called in but instead they called in the sales associate under me

Nope. It’s done by assessments.
Unfortunately it comes to dollars and cents.
I am sure you are very talented and knowledgeable and have many dedicated clients. As long as there is coverage that is all that matters.
the rank i think is hour much money you are making... if you make alot your called last or not at all.. in my store they brought back only the cheapest associates. they both declined the first round..
At my store only a certain allotment of each hourly colleague was allowed to be called back and it was done by seniority. Ex: only 4 counter managers, only 4 FT colleagues, only 2 PT etc. I don’t think it’s necessarily that you won’t be called back or will be replaced.
Get eady for some restructuring and major cutbacks It's gonna be brutal. 2nd call backs/rounds.....not likely. It will be fast. Sadly.
It’s determined by an assessment. If you’re a counter manager and people under you were called back, then you need to read the writing on the wall.
I think they did that because the cosmetics sale managers are now on the schedule as regular employees. They are taking the place of one of the counter managers... That's what happened to me
Unions....what a joke.
Seniority usually rules in layoff cases. But this is not a usual situation. AND right now this is a furlough return to work process, which isn't a layoff at this point. People are brought back slowly to open the stores and get things running again. We started at 30% and we are up to 40% after a month. Give it time.
I would start working on your resume, especially if you got no encouragement from manager. This is Macy's. They can put a cheap body on the floor in lieu of a pricey experienced counter manager. $$$$ is a factor when they pick "the best people" to go back.
This is why joining a union is so important . Seniority rules.
Everyone was ranked by the store manager on who they wanted to bring back first. It's not that you didn't pass the assessment, it's just others were ranked above you; they were asked first, and if they returned to work then the second tier continues on furlough until the next call back.
Omg.
