Do you think Macy's will now give 10.00 an hour?

I left macys to work at target and came back. Yes, they are paying $15/hr. BUT no one is full time except leads and executives and you have zero guarantee of hours. The best employees at my store who had worked 40 hrs for years suddenly found themselves only working 20. While I was there workload expectations for the associates doubled and they were given less hours. The grass looks greener from the outside, but the roots are just as rotten.
If you are a lead/management then it's not a bad job. Leads start around $17-$18/hr. If you have survived Macy's you would be fine there. I left for personal reasons and bad store level management.
Nothing is stopping you from submitting an application to Target, if they'll take you. Truth is you're mad they rejected you, eh?
Anyone making a decent living wage is being let go...…….
I agree a fair wage is needed and deserved at macys. I know this is a thread about store employee wages but This is a problem in the corp offices also! not at all to the same level and I don't want to take away from the minimum wage issue... but men at macys corp are still make significantly more money than their female counterparts. Hey macys, Its 2020 and our stores employees aren't being paid a fair minimum wage and women still making less money (for the same job) than men.
Oh no there's no quality of life here. S—ed dry then discarded. Even cardboard boxes are treated better these days. Look at how useful they are in the BLM protests.
Not anymore, use your God given voice!!!
They will pay white people $15, but blacks will still be stuck at $9.75 and free fried chicken
Those of you making the case for Macy's not paying $15 an hour... I just can't. $15 is barely a living wage on its own, and Macy's rarely pays store employees even close to that!
The PTO situation at Macy's isn't even that great. You get 8 days! It takes 5 YEARS to accrue more than that. If you don't think you get similar (or better!) benefits at Target, you are kidding yourself. I do bet, though, that Target doesn't tolerate its employees standing around doing nothing or disappearing off the floor for substantial lengths of time, so maybe that's what you mean by better "quality of life" at Macy's.
And if you've stuck around for nearly a DECADE and tolerated such low wages rather than trying to find another job, you have no one to blame but yourself.
The grass is always greener. Asses your tenure and accrued benefits. Company paid for benefits are factored into to payroll costs. Bottom line is, if you’re tenure afdords you quality of life, don’t let the $15/hr lure you. Do the math. You’re probably better off where you are. Even if Macy’s eventually files, that just means a finanacial restructure. Likely your days may be longer, but more than likely you’ll retain your job and still net better overall.
To Broken and Save Yourself, I know how you feel. I feel the same way most days. Shame on them for ever making us feel this way. I just wanted you to know that your not alone, and to just keep your head up and know you deserve better ❤️
I wonder how the new $15/hr effects overall benefits. Is the insurance comparable for full time employees? Would we accrue PTO at same rate? Would 401k match be same? I’m thinking probably not.
I get your situation. Nine years equals a sizable vacation allowance. Of course, benefits are costly and factored in to cost of role. Depending on your age you can cost variance your personal value of your job at Macy’s. Sure, you can go to Target at $15/hr, but if you calculate your yearly pay including PTO, how far away from you with overall hourly pay? Think about your quality of life.
NOPE
I don't begrudge Target employees at all but I make quite less than that after 9 nine years😢 They have k–led my self-esteem for so long I can't go anywhere else 😢😢😢
