Layoffs are bad enough but in the middle of a pandemic it is heartbreaking. People long used to having heak insurance will be without it until they find another job probably at a lower salary. COBRA is extremely expensive and most people making$15/hr can't afford it. The effects on loyal employees will be devastating. Look out agents you're next. Oh Wilson did grant optional time off for Juneteenth while in the same breath continuing to the rate of poverty in the US. Wasn't that special.

Anyone impacted will be able to keep their health insurance through the end of the year.
They may be contributing to the poverty rate in America but on the bright side there will be less poverty in India. This is good for the people of India and helps improve diversity and equity. Americans aren’t the only people on this planet deserving of a source of income.
Can you pay for marketplace with Hsa or just Cobra? Pls advise thanks
Marketplace insurance subsidy is based on your annual income so if you are laid off in Oct your income for 2020 might be too high so you'll have to take Cobra for rest of 2020. Slight good news, you can use HSA $ to pay cobra. If you have a HSA plan you might want to increase your contribution if you are able.
I don’t use the insurance. The deductible is high and the provider network is limited. You will be surprised. It’s affordable to get care if you shop wisely. Working for an insurance company and I have very poor coverage. Don’t get me started on the pr-scrip-ion coverage. I use goodrx. I declined dental and vision as I find cheaper treatment on a cash basis. Definitely insurance is not a plus for Allstate and don’t get me started on Sedgwick.
Cobra for one person is 400-500 a month or more. Market place is cheaper but higher deductible. Sad position to be put in.
My COBRA which covers medical, dental and eye care is far cheaper by $300-500.00 over any MEDICAL ALONE plan available through the state marketplace Obamacare plans. The state plan coverages are terrible and the prices ridiculous.
The third leading cause of death in the US is now medical mistakes, so perhaps this is a blessing. And, yes, I am being serious. Our "healthcare system" is really a death care system.
People will finally wake up and realize the heads of these companies are liars. Like politicians, they tell whatever lie they need to tell and bend whatever truth they need to bend in order to look good while screwing so many good people over. The rich get richer. The poor get poorer. Two caste pluralistic multicultural society here we come.
