Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

LAPC Complainers more like it

I work with a bunch of LAPC complainers, always asking my supervisor to change their schedule. Tired of it. We were asked to welcome them to the Oxy team but they want us to work APC way. We always had a laid back job now we have to be on top of them to get work done. We are a small dept with mainly guys that slack on doing work. We have come to conclusion we have to keep an eye on them for the lack of work they do always trying to get out of doing work. Someone called it right Oxy HATES LAPC

If LAPC truly went above and beyond to hire the best talent then some folks who applied there and were interviewed should have been hired. Instead LAPC told these highly qualified and talented folks they were “overqualified”. Meaning they were too OLD. I saw it with my own eyes.

LAPC was real bad about age discrimination and as a result didn’t always hire the best talent set before them. So be careful what you brag about LAPC. Also the LAPC Denver office had lots of s-x harassment and discrimination issues.

Lol @ OP. As if Oxy is some high performing company. If someone like Jeff Bezos was running Oxy, the headcount of corporate would be 20% of what it is now. All those departments with endless leadership cut.

Once you leave, you'll see. The Oxy work ethic and performance levels are quite unique.. shared by southern Italy and not much else.

We know this post is aiming at IAH we see how Oxy works. Untalented workers bashing the talented ones. Everyone in that small dept has favorites LAPC is not one. Immature & lazy workers from Oxy enough said. No talent in Oxy VH made a wise decision to go for a talented co. in APC

LAPC went above & beyond to acquire the best talent. And treated them like a valued asset. Sure there were a some bad apples but overall they made a point to recruit high performers. Another thing most people don’t realize, APC had a large population that worked there because they wanted to and enjoyed their job. These people DON’T have to work at all! Oxy can’t get their head around this because they are used to domination and fear tactics. Oxy employees have never been empowered to make any decisions.

Damn right I am glad to get it back, and I was not glad to lose it in the first place. But you guys were p-ss-d about giving up 4.9%, and then went on a mission to say you were getting the full 30% in August when no one in authority told you that. It is all about LAPC and the conspiracy to take them out. You guys think way too much of yourselves and your abilities.

You got your 30% back don’t act like it’s still gone. It comes down to communication & Oxy lacks that. No transparency from Oxy everyone seems to ask permission for anything just like a kid asking his mommy for permission. Swallow Oxy up, please!

Again, if you don't like having a job at Oxy just quit, but no you would rather be miserable and make everyone else miserable around you. If LAPC is so much better than the rest of the industry you would think even during low oil prices and Covid they would make room for you all, but that is not the facts. The facts are you are no better than any other company, and all most want is the big check to leave. If you are near retirement then yes there is a reason to be upset. But if you are still going to work for years the paychecks from Oxy still cash just like the ones at Anadarko. Anadarko cut deep in 2016 and a lot of good people were let go, and then they started forcing all the senior people out over the next 3 years, so don't tell us APC is any better than Oxy. Your management played some pretty shady games with long time loyal employees even at the executive level. Sure you might of had more pampered benefits, but those benefits we unique to APC, and not needed to do a good job. Oxy had some great fluff benefits as well until the rough times lately. I don't know of very many companies that basically give you 14% with 401K and retirement, and the retirement can be more based on salary. All you have to do it put in 5% to get 7% in the 401K. That stacks up pretty well in this industry. I have met some really good workers from APC, and they are on our team, but they are not as caustic as many seem on this board. Some are even glad they have a job with a paycheck and chose to stay on at Oxy. Also, you guys did not have to take a 30% pay cut, so just try to find some good please.

Oxy hires the bottom of the barrel no one else wants. Don’t worry pretty soon anyone LAPC will be gone and you all can enjoy bankruptcy together. Momma can’t afford that new outfit she just bought. The credit cards are maxed out.

LAPC will run circles around LOXY, but let's face it, we really have no business as a combined company. A company this large should be much more well run. There is no way we could compete with the majors until we have some more organization and leadership.
