Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Layoffs via Zoom meeting!!

Some employees got terminated back in June and others will be terminated in July, August and/or September. Are the notifications being done via Zoom? What about signing documents? Returning equipment (laptop, phone, etc.)? Odd times, really. Sorry, I know this is difficult for people to talk about though.

That "prerecorded" comment is not for Nike, read the whole message - the poster says that a different company (WeightWatchers) nuked 4,000 people on a zoom call too...

They (WeightWatchers) were the ones that had a prerecorded/muted situation, not Nike...

Also, the zoom message was prerecorded and they muted everyone dialing in.

Cool! Thanks

I guess you can look at the bright side, you won’t be escorted from the building and not allowed to say your good byes.

I remember working in one of the buildings in WHQ during layoffs a few years go that had some large conference rooms. Nothing more motivating than going into a meeting and seeing a stack of Kleenex boxes and water bottles, knowing that a bunch of people would soon be herded in there to have their lives ruined. Oh yeah, actually sitting on the other side of the wall from the conference room and hearing crying, then seeing some extremely distraught people doing the walk of shame down the hall past your desk, was worse. At least it motivated me to get out of there on my own terms.

Any "meeting" with your manager and HR should set off alarms immediately. Don't keep your personal stuff on your work computer because once you get shut out it will be a huge headache to get your info back - you basically have to tell IT the filenames you want sent back to you and if you don't recall then you're SOL

It would happen something like this:

You will get a Zoom call from your manager and a rep from HR. During the call, you will likely lose your links to e-mail and internal networks.

They will e-mail you a copy of your severance agreement and any associated NDA, non-compete, etc. at a personal address for your review. They will give a deadline to accept and make contact/have a call with HR regarding that acceptance. All of the signature stuff will happen via DocuSign or some other similar service. As part of that agreement, any company equipment like laptops and phones will need to be returned in working order. They will arrange either a courier pick-up, a FedEx shipment, or an appointment for you to physically drop off the gear at a Nike location.

It will be quick and very sterile.

It has 50K views, 300 replies. This is for Weight Watchers, they laid off 4,000 people via Zoom. Disconnected internet access during the call.

Also, the zoom message was prerecorded and they muted everyone dialing in.
