Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Two for one

I understand the situation right now is tough and some layoffs are necessary. But why get rid of people who are the most productive? Do they not realize that once the work picks up again (and while it won't go back to normal levels for a long time it'll certainly pick up at some point) they'll have to hire two people for each one of the oldtimers they laid off if they want to see the same amount of work done?

I agree. This move looks like they see no recovery in the time they plan to be in charge. That means pivot to new businesses ... oh wait where did I hear that word?

Remember when honeywell made computers? Yeah probably not. Remember when IBM was synonymous with personal computer?

You assume that honeywell aero plans to stay in the RnD business. It could be packaged up into just a spar parts supply company for their existing product lines.

Work? What work? There isn't much work left at sites other than relieving backlogs which doesn't really require experienced, and higher paid, workers.
Face it, business is bad and order books aren't filling itself fast enough to keep us with jobs. I do not understand, though, why there are still so many VP lingering on. With the current scenario, these VP should have been let go since there ain't enough people around to carry out their plan improvements.
I know of a certain VP just after the RIF, called upon a meeting to dish out new program and strategies and you could almost hear the deafening silence when he asked for opinions.
