Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Allstate Solidarity Walk Out Week

July 27 to July 31

Remember there is strength in numbers. Play hardball by using the only leverage you have remaining. If 70% of the workforce walked out for a week, it would be a devastating blow. Plus, it would be a public image fiasco for Allstate. What do you have to lose?

To the loser that purposed walking out, go ahead be a leader and walk out first. Lead by example. No wonder mgmt wants to cut the weak and the fat of the company. No, I’m not in mgmt.

The fact that Progressive is littered on this site gives you an idea why the company has to become more modern to compete. Walk-out is not a modern response by employees.

Best option is just to just s— it up and accept the severance. What they’re doing isn’t right but a walk out would change nothing.

We will not tolerate mass walkouts and your job will not be protected from such. No exceptions. This type of insubordinate behavior will have strong and quick consequences.

Wow is that what we've become. That would serve no purpose at all and the customers we are here to serve are the ones that would suffer, shame on you.

This is just utter stupidity. Can we for once start acting like grownups and not like entitled millennials?

Stupid crybabies.

a walk out would not accomplish anything more than putting those who did in a bad position for violation of the attendance policy. You give your manager an out to save another and they will take it. You can be terminated for violation of company policy which would move you down and someone else up on the list of who is let go and who is saved. As far as a PR hit, Just look at Walmart, do they look as if they are suffering for what negative press they have received in the last decade for their pay and employment environment practices. This is a multi Billion a year company, no one cares as layoffs are just part of US culture. there are no protections for employees in the country as in some of the European countries that make it unattractive for corporations to do layoffs. Stay the course, do your job and hope for the best but you should have your resume on Indeed right now and entertain potential employers until you know for sure. that is my advice as a prior Allstate HR employee let go many years ago. Best thing actually that happened to me as i have advanced my career faster in the 5 years removed than my 16 years there.

As a decades-long Allstate customer and average member of the public, I can state definitively that doing so would not make one bit of difference to Allstate's public image. The only devastating blow would be to your severance.

FYI. Principles are worth giving something up.
Society is lost if money overcomes principles. Courage and sacrifice do not exist in the American workforce albeit the current healthcare workers.

Yeah, not a good idea. Open insubordination is exactly what corporate wants and without a union they can fire you on the spot and most employees are afraid of this so it would be a pipedream to get 5% tops to participate in such an outdated idea.
