Will there be more layoffs today? Has anybody been affected yet?

Yes - to all three Qs.
RIF'd on Mon.
I'd been in IT for over a decade.
To Post ID: @1jmf+165K8NTm you definitely have to be part of management. People came to AIG to work because they had a Pension, yearly raises, and the 401K got better the longer you stayed. You really don't have a clue about this company to make some outrageous statement that you did.
To Post ID: @1xbk+165K8NTm you are sooo right!
HOOOOOOG WAAAAAASH!!!!! If the company wanted to save jobs they would stop paying the bloated executive salaries!!!!! The peanuts the common workers are getting for benefits and severance is nothing to the bottom line of this company. Regardless.....its all a losing battle, the majority of the jobs are going overseas and there is nothing this site or anyone else can do to stop it.
RE: @gql+165K8NTm – my point is AIG spends too much on comp and benefits across the board. 9% 401K match is awesome but unnecessary in the industry. 2 weeks for every year with a minimum of 10 weeks is generous but again, not necessary. The cost of benefits and severance drags down the bottom line. Yes, I want the same severance but if the company wants to save jobs they should reduce benefits and offer pay cuts for people to stay. It's not just senior mgmt, it's most 22's and up. That was my point.
AIG should be renamed, instead of AMERICAN International Group it should be called MALAYSIAN International Group. Based solely of the fact all the jobs are being shipped over seas for that sweet sweet cheap labor.
Stop the private jets and the midtown move extravaganza; that would also save some jobs. BD & PZ is all about themselves not about AIG and it’s employees.
To Post ID: @gql+165K8NTm I disagree with you. If you lost your job, you would want the same severance everyone else is getting. What they should do is stop the insanity with hiring all the Senior Management and their Buddies. Stop creating all these bogus positions and outrageous STI''s for Senior Management. If you aren't in Management, you do get overly paid. Stop bringing in all kinds of Consultants to do the jobs that Senior Management was paid to do.
Next one is supposed to be in September. Bigger than the 500 from June. Add 300 this month and my guess is 600-700 in Sept. What AIG should do is stop paying people so much, stop giving such a good severance and actually save some jobs.
it's still going on. Something like 300 people this week. Mostly good folks because we've run out of low handing fruit.
RIF’d this morning.
Who from gi?
I know it was a multi-day event but I haven't heard if it is over yet or not. I know some folks in GI that were let go Tue or Wed. IT on Monday. Maybe others...
