Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Replaced by younger or more diverse colleagues?

Nike will use this opportunity to improve diversity numbers. It will be interesting to see how many people feel their age and lack of diversity are factors in their demise. How many are parents whose replacements are childless? Parents have faced a tremendous burden over the past several months and many are no longer viewed as top performers.

Uh... lack of diversity should be a factor. Nike was built by (athletes) and for (consumer) Black people. I like your thinly veil white supremacy though. Lots of young people and culturally diverse people are parents though, so it doesn't really work.

@2ybb+165YnkIb and others, you HAVE to remember that childcare at work is a BENEFIT! Three percent of companies offer onsite childcare like Nike did, and so many Nike employees couldn't take advantage of it!!! I understand it's a BENEFIT - and an awesome one - but these are the comments that make Nike sound like complete entitled one-percenters.

It’s definitely not about diversity promotions, and remains about the White boys club getting rid of whoever they see as a threat. They’ll keep spending ridiculous money for talent from Google, Amazon, and any other “digital” companies they think they need to emulate- regardless of the actual talent the person has. By getting rid of the childcare centers and offering a paltry $1800/year maximum benefit they think the optics are more inclusive, that doesn’t cover more than 2 months, that should have always been an offering. If you’re a blonde white woman your chances of being seen as the diversity hire are likely, and Nike will continue to lose great diverse talent, and have a huge problem with inclusivity.

The former top Comms VP who was moved to Diversity and Inclusion when TE and JM got walked, KL, was sacked today too. No loss at all. My God that woman is a nutcase. She terrorized everybody she came into contact with. The one Sr. Director she treated like a slave was promoted to VP in the 2017 bloodbath and she remains. KL was insane on her best days. I must have heard her say she was going to quit about one-thousand times. Coulda, woulda, shoulda.

How is C-Suite Sissy Nigel Powell still allowed to draw a paycheck there? He had serious dirt on Parker. But what does he have on JD? We fought the King for this country. Why give it back to the Brits in the form of greenbacks and NKE stock?

This isn’t about diversity but about green...money. Just like at any company if they can replace you for someone who can do the same job at half the cost they surely will. You need to be better and smarter than the cheap ones.

Nike is the MRV- McKinsey Retirement Village. When they started going native at Nike everything shifted negatively.

Replaced by cheaper, disposable, employees because upper management is the real reason behind Nike's success (don't let anyone tell you different!). They can pull any schmuck off the street to implement their great ideas. Why waste your money on someone who's going to need insurance for their family and expect PTO, sabbatical, and whatever other handouts they feel "entitled" to?
