Just read the Visual Captain's duties.... I think whoever put this together has obviously not been inside a store lately. Store's are trashed, staffing is bare bones and although you are a "Visual Captain" you are part of the GLOBAL Support Team. Your doing markdowns, setting sales, unloading a trailor, processing a trailor, remerchandising the floor and helping customers....ALL AT THE SAME TIME!!! Oh, and sometimes your even covering a lunch for a Sales colleague. Time to get on the store level and really see what's going on!

You'd better start giving a bunch of F's about the operations piece of your new job or you will be out on your A$$ with no severance package. I was the OAPM and now the OVM and I know I have a lot to learn about Visual and am thankful our VM stated on as Captain. Operations is huge. If you don't care you will be over your head in a flash.
Yes, I read the Visual Captain's role and it is not "Global". The bigger stores are still thinking like nothing ever happened while the smaller doors are doing markdowns, unloading a truck etc. just like the original post states. The "Regionals" or whatever they are called need to get out of there dated mindset. Welcome to reality!!!
Retired red badge here......IMHO the only way for M to survive IS to have a global team running the store. It is very hard to let go of what we used to do, and the appropriate job description. Many years ago I simply accepted the fact that my job description was EVERYTHING. The more you know how to do, the more valuable you are. Best of luck to you.
Remember when the Visual Team walked around with their Starbucks drinks pointing out all things you needed to do and work faster. Karma is a b++++
I really can't see how I'm ever going to have the time to put up the 30 year old holiday trim ..oh well
Where did you read this I can't find the job description anywhere..
Pfffft... I left the building in March as the Visual Mgr.... Came back as WTH?... The OVM???! Sigh, I give ZERO F’s about trucking and all the other aspects that follow. What was Corp. thinking! Also, because of the dynamics of our store, I’m doing curbside, open & closing the store, breaks, put aways, wellness checks, and dealing with crazy a– customers 1st world Karen problems...and ZERO visual! LOL, why bother, there’s no merchandise! I’m taking off penny stock to put on 2nd markdown merchandise!
If Macy’s plans to close our store, I hope they rip the bandaid off and but fast!
Yes this is all true.
