Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Support hours...can someone explain them

Since they called back our stores support and let the rest go (some very good, experienced employees) we can't get the job done. The store is a mess, fitting room racks every where, non stop penny, missed markdowns, stockrooms filled, new goods still on rolling racks in stockrooms while the floors are empty. But they have the part time support working full time hours & overtime. Why couldn't they have brought back more people instead of paying overtime? And now most are sched every weekend since they returned (doing projects they used to do during the week) and when they ask why they are told "be happy you have a job and get used to it" but the managers can sched themselves off on weekends. And is it just our store but why is it acceptable that you don't see next weeks sched till a day before? What happened to work life balance? Contrary to their beliefs our life does not revolve around Macy's!

On the support side, we have always recieved our schedule the Friday before the next week. We never ever have recieved our schedule weeks in advance. Its horrible you cant plan anything. We are also not alotted unavailable days like the sales associates. But the reason why is the trucks and markdowns are not loaded in pipeline weeks before. The only perk USED to be working on our team WAS getting off early. But not anymore.

Managers don’t make their schedules, the store manager does everyone’s schedules do don’t get mad at them. I remember years ago people telling me that Victoria’s Secret pays very well but you do EVERYTHING!! Sounds like Macy’s but definitely NOT the pay part.

In my Store We have Schedules for the next 4 weeks. With 1 weekend off every 3 weeks, we are able to utilize the unavailable days and Availabilty.
PTO
There have been a few small issues
And they were adjusted.
Seems like your store doesn't know how to use Sceduling system

Whoever had to stay is unfortunately now subject to whatever the store manager wants to drive them to do...no more job differentiation...this has been happening for a few years now and has come to fruition. I hoped the associates would have said enough is enough and left but i understand some need the money, but my mental health was much more important in my opinion. I say work a lot slower, don’t worry about the lists of things needed to be done and just collect the penny’s Macys is paying....

My sentiments exactly, we went from working 5 to 2 Monday thru Friday to 8-5 and most weekends with not even 48 hours notice for the Sunday. Our team works harder than any others in the store. We do it all with enthusiasm and dedication. I have done this job for 20 years and loved everything about it. Now I dread everyday. I know I can leave at anytime but wanted to hold out a couple more years for retirement. I am definitely feeling squeezed out after 29 years of dedication and commitment.
