Believing in meritocracy is like saying that kids who are good get presents for Christmas.

For Chevron to make it through the energy transition diversifying it’s culture is necessary, and must be an active process.

I think the diversity metrics of those who are “left standing” (aka “laid off”) are made available to those who are laid off and sent to them as part of their paperwork. Cannot recall if race and ethnicity are included but I think age is. Anyone know? Would be nice to have that shared in this forum as people receive them.

I don’t work for Chevron anymore, thank God. But I see a class action discrimination lawsuit coming soon. Chevron even admits its intentions in a news article. Can’t get much better evidence than that.

Let's face it, Chevron's biggest problems is cultural. They mostly have good policies. They mostly have the right messaging when it comes to diversity. The problem is that management has convinced themselves that "leadership" looks a certain way. Leadership speaks a certain way. Leadership is stoic and unemotional. Leadership has memorized the script for dealing with difficult circumstances. The fact that they have framed the idea of leadership so narrow, their diversity problem in leadership becomes a self fulfilling prophesy.

When it comes to diversity of thought, O&G companies have a long way to go. But these actions are a band-aid move. They will only encourage harrasment and hatred of women and immigrants.

Article appears to state the facts that recent selections resulted in higher % of minorities and women. It is left to the reader to think that this is either good news or bad news.
