I've heard a lot of people say how important these Round 3 selections are to set us up for our future with a more technical IT organization.
But look at who is on the selection team for Round 3. How in the hell are they going to know how to put the right people in the right roles? There are third party vendors who work for us and are surprised that some of our tech experts are even tech experts. And now they want technical people to manage 15-20 people each.
More and more people will quit. The people that should be laid off will stay, and the people Chevron IT needs to keep will leave. This is quite the mess that the CIO will have to figure out how to solve.
