I was just hired for remote direct sales. I don’t understand this at all.

There is a new program for remote direct sales, it is designed for people to work out of their home and get Allstate new business that way. I can confirm it is the pay the other person quoted, you are an Allstate employee, and from what I have seen it is designed to get direct sales employees in low cost of living areas and allow them to work from home so that will cost Allstate less, they have first and second shift sales.
It wouldn't surprise me if this was successful to slowly get rid of direct sales in the CCC. I have heard the results are mixed so far, it might be another Allstate experiment that fades away in a year.
If it's direct based out of the CCC you will be fine. I personally know reps who make over 100 grand. I am thinking about it now. I did it before and took a higher "salaried" job and make quite a bit less.

Those direct sales people are not making 100K, they just started the program and it has only been about 6 months, there are 2 programs with 1 of the programs people starting at 16.00 per hour (34,000 a year) plus commissions, if they are lucky they will get up to 40,000 extra with commissions, but the other program they have tried called BDA wasn't that successful. The other starts at a little bit higher but same issues. They only have about 20 of these people total right now.
These were also just tried in a few states, try surviving on that money in San Francisco.
Allstate is eventually going to get rid of agents, so direct sales is the place to be, may sound strange but this is probably the perfect time to take a direct sales job. Unless they move that to India too
You’ll most likely be fine. Direct sales should be pretty secure position right now.
Heard of folks doing Direct Sales that made close to a $100K/yr.
And it’s people reaching out DIRECTLY to you, hence the name Direct Sales. No cold contact sales.
