Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

James Daunt carries on the legacy of terrible leadership

Daunt is doing nothing but the same thing the past CEOs did. Firing experienced people that actually read in favor of cheap labor that sont even know their alphabet .Pushing metrics that don't actually contribute anything to sales, and scheduling so light that morale drops and customers get frustrated and leave. He is terrible!

Is sticking with this failing company the smartest move or is it that you can't find anything good- or is it that no one wants you?

No one wants them. I kept getting turned down and I knew it was bringing up Barnes. I had an interview lined up & approached it as , I left the company because of its lack of commitment to customers and employees. BAM- got a job offer.
BN is a toxic brand name now. No company wants an employee that BN would let go .

Why can't store managers find better companies and jobs?

"Gossipy, coddled employees" Who the F talks like that, are you from a 1930's bad movie?

Smartest thing was to dump the dead weight:

Gossipy, coddled employees, whom have hung around for 20 years.

Buh-bye.

“So many clueless posts, with total lack of business smarts”

It’s BN with lack of business smarts !
No price matching.
Bad shipping.
Membership doesn’t apply to many things.
Expects customers to pay full price when public has become shopping savvy, not loyal to one store.
It’s BN that hasn’t kept up with the business times !

You guys expect the company to run like its 1986 and there’s no pandemic, Amazon and online shopping.

So many clueless posts, with total lack of business smarts.

It’s Barnes’ legacy.
What it has become known for.
The once premiere company , now an industry and customer joke.
