Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Remember the pitch on why we need to buy Time Warner?

Because we got network already.

Because we got distribution already (DirecTV and a few Uverse)

And so we get content.

Now we lose distribution (other than few ATT TV customers, who knows how many - they are too embrassed to share numbers). What now? Was Advertising and Big Data and SDN not supposed to tie it all and save us all?

I also remember the CWA being all in in the Time Warner purchase as long as it brings new members with dues without regard to the long term health of the company. And yes I am a dues paying member still scratching my head

Focused ads. This is how out of touch the "Leaders" at AT&T are. Amazon and Facebook offer their services for free because "you" are the product and you will accept ads to use the services for free. You can drop any of these services at any time and never think about it again. AT&T wants you to pay some random amount and be locked into a contract. In addition to paying for AT&T TV (Whatever flavor that is) your experience will be "Ad supported" and Xander (another failure) will be in the mix.

Stank and his big ego has neglected distribution biggest players: Amazon and Hulu. Customers might be interested in content, but they don't want your lame hardware, over priced programming fees, and oppressive targeted ads (if they ever come around to push them).

"Are you watching Friends?" "OMG, I love's Monica's outfit!" "AT&T is going to serve me ad to buy it in my size." Pipe dreams, Amazon e-retail muscle is needed to pull this off and Bezos will say "no" with a huge smile.
