Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

I am grateful to work here right now

I thought I’d post this, because this site is always so negative. I don’t have strong feelings towards Intel, but until I can find another job, I’m grateful to be here. This is my first job out of school; it’s jumpstarted my retirement savings and liquid savings. I’m relatively safe from COVID because I work from home. I wonder if some of the problems at Intel are from people being as negative as they are on this site. For instance, a grievance could be written as, “My work is not engaging. How can I change this?” In this site, it’d instead be written as, “I’m tired of baby sitting machines and having to deal with a manager who has no clue what’s going on.” Do you see how many more bad vibes the second phrase gives off? If not on this website, please consider this while at work. I rather be looking for a job while tolerating my current job rather than loathing it.

I don't think many jobs are secure these days. You have to think positive or you have NOTHING at all. If you're not happy at your job then quietly look for another. Working for any large corporation is a c-ap shoot. You either fill the companies needs or you don't. It's just a fact of life.
Intel gets a lot of bad press from shady things they did years ago and people just won't let it go because it helps them to praise AMD and to HATE Intel.
Intel deserves some of the trashing but certainly not all of it. The AMD fanboys have built up the hype train at Intel's expense. People just follow the sheep without knowing the truth.
Everything today is either 0% or 100% and no 50% at all. Far right or far left.

You bring up some good points, time to be thankful and respectful, whether or not you are looking elsewhere.

You will be singing a completely different tune once that same company abandons you

And here we have OP, a perfect example of Stockholm Syndrome. Yeah, I guess if you are on H-1B, and Intel saved you from working in a WITCH bodyshop you should be grateful. That's why Intel Management has been backing the truck for H-1Bs since the late 90s. Compliant workers who are afraid of being sent back.

I’ve been worried about lay offs after a few events, but I’m usually here to see people’s perspectives. Some of them are helpful.

And yet you’re visiting a site about intel layoffs, if intel was so great why would you be worried? Plenty of jobs out there, just requires some effort. Yep, I’m no long an intel slave, left on my own, I’m here for sh–s and giggles.
