Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Are people being laid off or furloughed?

I keep reading furloughed, but I thought we were beyond that and Xerox was in full layoff mode. Which one is it?

@1wid+16KgBImX - Yes. Those of us that are worried about our job and are not sure the fate of the industry do read about furloughs. The smartest thing to be doing right now is looking for another job, however it is not that simple in this environment so its nice to have somewhere to discuss things with other employees with out the backlash of Xerox HR.

This is a site for people that are coming together to share information because the company we work for is comprised of greedy liars who show no professionalism or transparency to their employees. So if you don't like it or think it is for competitors why do you visit and read the site - or post for that matter? You are obviously someone who has job security or is in the know - so get the f%$k off this site!

If there were any Field Engineers left they would have to be the team that supported the Production devices like iGens
If they have been furloughed then that means the team from Guatemala is doing all the support for those devices from this point forward
My guess is that these people have been unfairly furloughed so they get no severance that they were told they would get
If Xerox furloughed these people, some approaching 4 decades of loyal service, just so they could avoid a severance then this is even another new low.
The only Field Engineers left are those supporting the high end devices. Everyone else is already gone.

A lot of good people in Webster ny are getting thrown to the wayside. I feel bad for anyone facing a furlough. They most likely won’t be coming back

Xerox has found the magic formula. Furlough furlough furlough. They don’t have to announce it. They don’t have to disclose it to the government and they don’t have to pay you severance. They can just keep you on furlough until you find a job. If you are furloughed from xerox start your job sewarch immediately as you will not be asked back.

In as many cases as possible it will be furlough.
There may or may not be a program the company can use form the government to claim monies for and even if there isn’t, a furlough can be as long as they want it to be and base it on the impact of Covid-19.
In the time they want as furlough, you could run out of unemployment insurance or get to a point where you are forced to find another job without any references to either a severance or a layoff from Xerox
It’s to their advantage right now to use furlough as much as possible
Senior management (Mary M) is one of the few that can state a return and the C suite is on a plan to reduce so don’t count on coming back soon or at all
Yes some will come back but only if she/they approve it from a business case
Don’t hold your breath
Take the opportunity to look elsewhere

I know in the long run it probably won't make much of a difference, but it would still be good to know.
