Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Layoffs

The only reason they are warning of layoffs In US now is because some PIP’d people actually thought they could pass it. Now with the publicity over this first concealed lay-off they are warning in advance so when you get let go at the end of your pip everyone won’t run back to the press like it wasn’t news. They will just say what did you expect you were PIP’d so you dropped again. Your pip was a lay-off.

How to distinguish Responsible Retrenchment from an Ethical Company versus an Unethical Company:

Ethical company president told employee

  • it was a painfully difficult decision to retrench staff, a toughest decision he has to make in his years of service in SIA.
  • for our impacted colleagues, please know that this is not a reflection of your individual strengths and capabilities”

UNETHICAL ExxonMobil and HR/ Supervisor told its staff when executing this disguised retrenchment:

  • this is not a head count reduction exercise
  • you are not fit in the organization
  • speak up, you are lacking leadership behaviour

You have performance issues
You are NSI, 2 options for you

Take PIP
Or
Resign voluntarily

Leave EM,
No future employment with the company

Shareholders do not decide who lower level managers are and that is where corruption runs rapid.

@pba+16MJKZza what a load of horseshit. They are targets by a corrupt system of management. Not a– kissers. Quite a few were PIP’d and didn’t deserve it so go sore your b—s— somewhere else. You fd the US and AP because you could.

We shareholders will FIRE DW and other executives if they do not protect the dividend and get costs under control. The Shareholders OWN the company and make the decisions on who is employed including the senior management. Employees are hired without contracts and can be fired for any reason. EM strives to identify the best ranked and retain them. EM never made a job guarantee, especially to poor performers and the board and shareholders support these steps.

Some people cannot handle a little power.

I@crc+16MJKZza. Bullies being promoted seems to run rapid in xom. If the company would realize it actually takes more intelligence to run a team without bullying than it does to push people around then maybe we would be in a better situation.

Except if they actually had “cause” they would have just fired everyone.

The PIP was a firing - for cause.
This is not a layoff.

It was a simple slap in the face.
for the dividends.

High-sounding title - but not much said.
Layoff is a fightin' word.

I'll copy a good entry from yesterday's 'layoff' title.
Not funny, btw.

Yesterday:

Layoffs? Layoffs?
Maybe the terminologies are different among our vast global spreads,
but the correct term is throat-cutting most anywhere.
perhaps gully-dumping.
or ghosts-in-the-woods.

But not lay-offs. That's sure.
