Has anyone else lose managers or people who you thought were coming back?
The letters went out and there is a third wave.

My whole store knows about this website. I don't know why everyone else isn't on here reading these posts. Someone needs to tell those poor, delusional things on the FB Bookseller page to come here and learn the truth.
I think SM got tired of making calls and/ or didn’t want to speak to certain employees. I know a number of people who didn’t return to work and haven’t been call.
Who is the administrator for Bookseller FB? I have not been able to gain entry.
What’s shameful is still no letter from HR. I bet they never get sent.
Many furloughed/ex-employees are complaining on the bookseller page that their SMs haven't called them.
So what do you think that means? Hmm?
Just ignore that a-hole troll. Has no clue about the company.
Nondisclosure agreements? Let's just stop this nonsense right now! No one asked any of you 35k/yr (at best) employees to sign a nondisclosure You don't know enough and you are not that important. That's why you are being let go. So just stop lying!.
Looks like Mommy let the troll out again.
Get back under the bridge. The adults are talking.
NDAs have been standard at BN for years when people take severance. In the past, the verbiage has varied around working at other bookstores - from a set amount of time to not at all. I’m not with the company anymore, but have seen many people get rehired by BN after taking severance or work for other book retailers.

Were you a manager? They said you could never work in the book industry or was there a time limit. It is not like you have trade secrets. You are right they should not limit where you go to work. Now if you were the CEO and got a million dollar+ with full benefits severance package they could limit you for maybe a year.

And I bet it wasn't much money either! I hope someone refuses to sign it and sues them.
Had to sign an agreement. And to receive my severance pay had to sign that I would not disclose the severance or work for any company that sells books.
You fire me then try to limit where I work ?
I signed it and applied to other bookstores.
Try and sue me BN !
Managers usually get fired or forced out. At our store they did 2 at once and they signed non-disclosure agreements so we never found out the reason why, same with a Head Cashier.
B&N loves to keep people quiet.
Do managers every get laid off at this place. For all the talk about booksellers and how important they are all this nonsense This place seems to only terminate the booksellers and treat them as poorly as possible.
What a f'n shtty week! I'm so over this stupid company!
Everything just keeps getting worse! Everyone who was laid off should be grateful. You don't have to deal with the constant BS and a-holes not running things.
One termination date was today. Still nothing in writing. No need for B&N. I find everything I want to read from the library, independent bookstore and amazon.
Our manager has been waiting for this opportunity to get rid of who she hates for a long time.
Luckily, I made it through one more time, and I really hate having to put on the act every day and kiss her a–.
It's awful for me to go into work every day, wondering if I'm getting axed next. Or when we'll get the final notice that we're closing up for good.
It's a terrible way to go on.
Not surprised. He did it with Waterstones. That’s why it’s so “ profitable “ Bare minimum if employees at minimum wage!
