Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Job codes

Its difficult to work in an environment where there is no structure or plan for the day. My clubs front end job codes are all over the place!! You got maintenance associates pushing carts, cart pushers doing club pickup, front end leads coded as merchandisers, and everyone and their mother also working club pick up. Not to mention we still have not started the process of getting member specialists into their new role. But the biggest let down of them all is that everyone is ok with this!!! Even the club manager which is insane!!! How are we supposed to hold people accountable for not doing the right thing if you have everyone all over the place. I just dont understand.

The person who said transfer to fresh has the best idea. That’s what I did. I’ve been with Sams a little over a year now and I spent 10 months as a merchandiser. 10 months of pure hell. Stocking shelves, running registers up front, pushing carts, working entrance and exit doors, doing maintenance, etc.. I’ve been in produce 3 months now and it’s a bit more work but Im happy I get to stay in one area all day and not have to run around like a chicken with its head cut off.

The store manager gets payroll incentives. Staying under payroll nets them a nice bonus. Not saying this is true for all management.

1) Your Covid bump is more than ours.
2) Physical year?? Thought you had to be smart to be a Mgr.

For the person who wrote "Those payroll incentives for management are back breakers for all the other associates." I am a manager and there are no extra incentives we get. We get a Covid bump the same paycheck you do. You guys get quarterly bonuses and we still get ours at the end of our physical year. If you get a good bonus all 4 quarters then our bonus will be a good one. We have a payroll budget and that's it. We get nothing extra if we are shorthanded and everyone is having to do extra.

People saying "this is retail", or "Get over it" are actually just being bootlickers who are perfectly fine letting people walk all over them. It's actually incredibly sad to see how little self respect people have, and how bitter and defeated about their own circumstances that they would tell someone else to give up and just accept the conditions.

People have a right to be upset about this nonsense. As far as leverage? The best you could do is attempt to organize with other workers there. If that's not something you are interested in, I'd also suggest transferring to a fresh area or something else, where the cross training isn't as bad (thought it still exists).

Sam's is making record profits right now, and from what I understand they are still being restrictive about payroll, and stretching their workers thin. Those payroll incentives for management are back breakers for all the other associates.

The Sams/Wally world way! Too concerned with "holding people accountable ". If the jobs get done, who the f**k cares? Good luck with the continued nonsense.

Get a life. This is retail. Look at it as an opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills. I worked in every department except LP and Auto Service in my store.

I have noticed that some of the front end at my club can do whatever they want and not held accountable. making 15.00 and not really earning it smh

Seriously, take a chill pill.

What the front end leads are coded doesn't magically make them better or worse at doing the job.
Cart associates were suppose to dispense orders from the beginning. And it hasn't been two weeks since the member specialist role rolled out. As to maintenance helping push carts, I might disagree with that, if they are doing it for a whole shift or the majority of a shift most days.

We're at the beginning of the changes. Give it a month at least.
