Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

List your shop and how many affected?

Are they reducing 10 percent in all crafts in every shop? Are these layoffs for this quarter or new one? Just wondering how many years of service I need to maintain a job I have 10 years and down at the bottom almost on mechanical side. Are layoffs done then since only laid off managers and couple crafts

My shops a disaster. Dirt all over the floor, missing tools, nothing in the right place. My wife is disgusted by it. Oh, this is railroad talk.

The layoffs are never going to be over until they get that 55%, or the sink the company.

OR went up because carloadings went to doodle. Wanna improve OR? STOP TURNING AWAY BUSINESS!!! Now pay attention those at the top so you can pass this class. Wanna improve your numbers? Then stop k–ling them to keep from having to actually do your JOB!
They hired this man to cut! What a waste of money. Hell, we coulda done his job at a family day! Let's play "who's a$$ is grass!" Spin the ole heads around 5 times blindfolded and let em sling a dart at the map. Give all that money saved to the almighty shareholders and leave us WORKING men/women ALONE!

History tells me if they close a hump be prepared for mass layoffs. Look at the previous humps that we’re closed and how many worked there before and after. Hinkle for example they cut over 75% of that work force. Granted you have two humps in north platte. But how many work on the side they’re closing? I would say those guys probably won’t be needed anymore.

How is arbitration coming for Hinkle employees that did not get to follow their seniority?

Read east hump in North Platte to close by Sept.21st. So are we suppose to prepare for layoffs after. But still busy with lots OT so maybe we are okay for end of year. Anyone know how this will turn out when hump does close?

The layoffs will never be over until they hit that 55%. The OR went up last quarter, and now they're scrambling to get it back down.

Sounds like more to come. Last week was just the start. Have to get to that 55 OR by end of the year. Those guys that got cut this year and haven’t started looking for new jobs are already three steps behind the smart ones that already have new jobs.
