AT&T'S DTV ON $ALE FOR 7B

Due to the crisis in and the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, AT&T said in a 10-Q filing last month that it recorded a further $2.2 billion in goodwill impairment. “It is more likely than not,” AT&T said in the filing, that the fair value of the Vrio reporting unit “is less than its carrying amount.” about 7Billion.

I’ve read several articles on DTV being on the block and estimates are around $20B. I can’t see them selling it for $7B.

Stop spending money on politically motivated t shirts and mailing them to us that refuse to wear them. equality rainbow pride p–p licker shirts . Look what happened to Ellen! She is a heteophobic bigot. T pays managers, rep assist (fake managers) ambassadors who shop on amazon all day..Get rid of all these managers who don’t do sh– and all the made up positions like ambassadors who pass out cupcakes, popcorn and candy all day. When they’re not doing that they spend 4 hours on 1 email about “purple shirt day” or “what’s your favorite gumdrop day.” Put managers back into positions that actually generate revenue instead of spreadsheets that tell me I could take 1/2 call more than I currently do.

Buy Blockbuster and sell a VCR for $149.99 with a 2 year contract. Bundle a VCR head cleaner and remote for an additional $29.99. A VCR is truly mobile all you need is a AC outlet and it’s not affected by weather or slow internet connections. You can record live tv and take the tape anywhere unlike a DVR. No passwords required with easy returns to any AT&T Corp STORE or UPS location in the US and Puerto Rico. restrictions apply

T’s idea is keep raising the price and get rid of channels because we’re losing customers due to price increases and less channels.

Maybe T should throw in WatchTV (free for 12 months) as a cherry on top of the $7B. WatchTV is the absolute worst name for a streaming service in history . The first objection as a salesman we had to overcome selling UTV, DTV was “I don’t Watch TV.” So T comes out with WatchTV . IMO one of T’s major failures is NOT LISTENING TO THE CUSTOMERS. They will play calls 3-4 times and criticize the rep and not one word about what the customers issues or needs were. John Ledger had customer calls playing all the time and he saw/heard what the customers pain was whether it was taxes, overage fees etc. while T was selling WatchTV, buying DTV and Time Warner T-Mobile offered free Netflix. T should have bought Netflix or partnered with another streaming service. What does Randall do? This guy goes on cable news and says our streaming service is “Tiffany’s and Netflix is Walmart.” That was proof to me that he is out of touch with consumers. If you shop at Walmart get Netflix if you can afford Tiffany’s buy our service.

Another terrible decision is AT&T TV. The C-Level response to cord cutters. Cord cutting is cutting the chains of contracts locking customers into drastic price increases while still under contract. Duh! Consumers don’t want to stream and pay the same price that nearly doubles in 12 months. What are they thinking? My guess is they they would take away the “UTV” option and bundle AT&T fiber with AT&T TV. Even that doesn’t make much sense. DTV NOW. Who came up with the idea?

Probably went like this:
“hmm UMM Randall Let’s go hit some golf balls off the Whitacre Tower. After eight four hour meetings we have a performance plan. Since were are the only streaming service losing customers We came up with plan based on your 2019 Priorities. We are going to Eliminate more channels and increase the price of DTV NOW. THATS IT RANDY! WE ARE AT&T for 150 years! CAN YOU MENTION MY NAME ON THE EMAIL BLAST”.

Vrio does not equal DTV. DTV brings in ~5billion per year in earnings.

Correction:

  • Find a dying company to further ruin.
  • Over pay for said company to ruin by overpaying 10 times its value.
  • Chase away all talent in said ruined company.
  • Former Executives In-Charge, pull rip cord on Golden Parachutes.
  • Place some IDi0T that knows nothing about the industry to mismanage said company to ruin it.
  • Build some new posh Corp HQ and move everyone to it. Then,
  • Offshore, rebadge, whack as many people as possible to pay for resulting debt.
  • Get rid of said ruined company for a shiny penny on the $.
  • T declares win!

So T paid $49B for DTV and now will dump it for $7B?

I have a feeling they won't be able to dump it for even $7B. That is 14% of the purchase price. I doubt T will be able to dump it until the price goes well into the single digit percentage based on T's historical merger method:

  • Find a company to ruin.
  • Over pay for said company to ruin by overpaying 10 times its value.
  • Chase away all talent in said ruined company.
  • Place some IDi0T that knows nothing about the industry to mismanage said company to ruin it.
  • Get rid of said ruined company for a shiny penny on the $.

DEBT INCREASED? Yes...
AT&T’s debt load totaled $191 billion in the second quarter, up 16% from $164 billion in 2017, according to Morningstar. Its debt-to-equity multiple is 1.09.

As far Vrio is concerned DTV has stagnated since AT&T bought it along with the rest of satellite-TV service DirecTV in 2015, hard to make money in a loser market.
