Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Good Q1, but where is the overtime?

Good earnings at the cost of many Cloud Engineers? CEs are struggling due to bad Q4 bonus and discouragement of overtime. That’s a huge loss of income.

Stockholders own you (literally) and you are employed for them and by them, not the other way around.

Isn't it that way at every firm? They employ you if they need you, if they don't need you, regardless of how the company is doing, you're gone. Ask all the people being laid off at SFDC.

Issue is you have clowns , directors , managers everywhere trying to advise top management without any knowledge if underlying technology, eating bonus if the folks working under them

It seems that Oracle employees all missed the memo. It’s not about you. It’s about shareholder value. Stockholders own you (literally) and you are employed for them and by them, not the other way around.

One minute you’re judged as a “hanger-on” and the next you’re judged for being a “job hopper!”

Not quite. You have been judged as a hanger-on since you started ignoring the obvious signs of Oracle’s decline 3-4 years ago. You sound as though this only became apparent to you recently?

All used to pay the retrenchment benefits for the thousands of recent RIF folks.

When your turn comes, you will get your back dated bonuses like all of us whom have been RIFed too.

Oracle has a TERRIBLE REPUTATION for pay raises. I never got one in 5 years. We were told to not even ask about it. Don’t believe me? Hundreds or maybe thousands of reviews on glassdoor can’t be wrong.

It can’t be that all those people were not deserving, otherwise, what kind of losers is Oracle hiring anyway, right?

The culture of Oracle is haves and have nots. I mean the CEO bought a freakin’ HAWAIIAN ISLAND for fux sake!!

When have you ever heard LE or any of his minions give props in public to the team behind the scenes who is making the money machine run?

So don’t be surprised, ok?

There is limited overtime hours. Upper management(Sr VP) approval for projects with a hard due date... have your manager/director ask.
I can attest since its been approved for a few months now, it is limited hrs but it is available.

Not everyone can just jump ship so easily, some people are pregnant and need health insurance intact for their families! Your feedback is narrow minded and not helpful. Oracle has problems they need to fix. Q1 was good but at the price of what????? That is the point here! We are all losing money and still working hard. It’s wrong. One minute you’re judged as a “hanger-on” and the next you’re judged for being a “job hopper!” People can’t win these days. Your “truth” was nothing new nor insightful and didn’t “hurt”, you’re the type of person who clearly likes to try to inflict hurt on others with your words though. Speaks volumes about YOU.

and so instead of finding a better gig elsewhere you complain about it here. That speaks volumes about you. Quit whining and show some grit. Prove to yourself that you are not simply a hanger-on who lives in fear.
The truth hurts

I guess it would be asking too much for Oracle to actually reward employees who work hard with pay raises. Lateral moves are the norm with no increase in pay. It all leads to a dead end. Oracle has a bad reputation for a reason and that’s the truth that hurts.

Haha it’s not just me in this boat, thanks for the deep insights though. Why are you hanging out here serving up life advice? Nothing better to do with your grand time? We are commenting on a fact, Oracle is greedy and it’s obvious. I’ll move on when I’m ready. Have a nice life.

Don’t forget that many in presales had their bonus structures changed, retroactive to 6/1. Probably negating bonuses that would have resulted from this strong Q1.

No pay raise in 3 years and my OT has basically been cut. Nice to see the rich keep getting richer, while the people doing the front line work struggle.

Watch out for OT be cut down permanently once with all they have been saving Q1! This company doesn't care about us only about saving money to increase stock price. Don't saving on payroll expenses didn't play apart in this great earnings report.

Lets be real, small cost cuts in Cloud Engineering doesn't affect the bottom line significantly. And Q4 bonuses were bad because Q4 was peak pandemic. Overtime is off because half of the people abuse it without actually working much OT. That said, Q1 bonuses remain to be seen, so we'll see if its a trend or a one-off.

No one gives a darn. Same old story, reduction in force, share buyback, a great story/narrative.
